Simping over fictional characters: Yes or no?

Don’t think it’s weird. It’s like being attracted to a TV show character. Being attracted to a fictional character isn’t going to harm anyone as long as they’re able to draw the line beyond fiction and reality, which pretty much everyone can. I’d even argue that it’s a good thing as it can help people decide what they want in a future partner.
I’m fairly sure people have been obsessing over fictional characters since the printing press was invented.
But I don’t think it’s bad or gross, it’s just my personally something I understand. Like Kai from Powerless, you can’t NOT have a crush on his character. But that doesn’t mean I actually am attracted to him. Idk if that made any sense 😭

I think if you simp for any animated character then you can understand that its ok to think someone is attractive and an example of what you want in a man, but it shouldn't be glorifying villains or bad role models in books. As long as you aren't harming anybody or making something wrong look ok, I think it's not strange at all!

Is it an unhinged obsession or just a cute crush? Because if it’s like that one incident with BookTok where that girl was harassing that hockey player dude, you need to leave. But we love our fictional crushes <3
I think liking the fictional characters are a huge part of why books (for example within the YA genre) are so appealing to people. So yeah, it might be slightly weird (dependent on the degree to which you simp), but it's normal.
It's harder for me to simp for book characters than it is TV characters. However, I have grown to be fond of introverted, awkward, bookish men who are deep and complex and emotionally intelligent (but are not malicious about it). The INTJ, INTP types. I am also fond of the sweet, nerdy, golden retriever types.
When I was younger, watching Tobey and Becky's dynamic (Word Girl) kind of influenced my taste in men, if that says anything about me.
For me, it's hard to tell whether I have a crush on the person or just find them attractive. My feelings about this subject are very objective.
Not strange at all, although I myself have not found a book yet where I have simped over a character in literal years.
I feel like for me it's like "I wish there were for men like this out there that actually respected women and treated them correctly" or like "man would I like to have a guy like that" I'm not obsessed and going psycho over a book character lol

I’m not attacking anyone who thinks other wise, but having an actually attraction to a character made of paper and ink… sorry that’s just a bit strange 🤨
Any thoughts?
