Series numbered out of sequence

The book Corpies is incorrectly tagged as book number 5 in the Super Powereds series.

Please correct to number 3.5 in the series. The events of the story overlap the tail end of book number 3 and the beginning of book number 4.

Hello, the book is 612 pages long so it's not a novella but a full length novel. Decimals are reserved for novellas and short stories. Furthermore, Amazon lists this book as 5 in the series: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01... So it does appear as the numbering is correct.

Then the info on Amazon is incorrect also. Here's an excerpt from the introduction of the book:

"First and foremost, you need to be aware that this book, Corpies, is a spin-off of my Super Powereds series. Now, while you will still be able to enjoy the tale even if you haven’t read those other stories, you should be aware that there will be references to people and places that seem random but are in fact pointing back to the Super Powereds series. Just something to take the burden off your mind, assuming you panic that you missed chapters when you see stuff like that (like I do).

Secondly (and this part is really only relevant if you do read the Super Powereds series), this story occurs during the events of Super Powereds: Year 3, starting after the Lander HCP semester has begun and wrapping up a while before Intramurals. That’s why there might be some allusions to impending things that you, as a caught-up reader, know have already occurred."

I see now why a librarian added the series information as in the title although the decimals are incorrect. You might have noticed that it says: Corpies (Super Powereds, #2.5)

#1 - Super Powereds: Year 1
#2 - Super Powereds: Year 2
Spinoff - Corpies
#3 Super Powereds: Year 3
#4 Super Powereds: Year 4

To recap:
* Amazon says book 5
* The librarian says 2.5 and author agrees with that placement in the series but unnumbered.
* You say book 3.5.

The thing is that according to Goodreads policies decimals are reserved for novellas and short stories only. So there should not be any decimals in that work whatsoever. I think the series on Goodreads is actually in publication order, not reading order. There are two, or three ways a series can be numbered on Goodreads: Publication order, chronological order, and recommended order (if it applies.)

But according to the introduction of the book, it would be best to read Corpies after one finishes the Super Powereds series, as it is a spin-off. So the book being numbered 5 makes total sense to me. It would follow the recommended reading order per the introduction by the author.

Thanks for letting me know that the info is wrong on Amazon also. I contacted them about the misnumbering and they will confirm with the author and/or publisher and then update the description with the correct information.

Since it does not cover a "year" could it be unnumbered and placed at the end?

There's definitely conflicting information in several locations.

The author's website has the title numbered as "Super Powereds Spin-off #1", but he has a graphic (referenced above in a prior post) placing the events as occurring between Year 2 and Year 3.

However, as the intro to the book indicates (also posted above), the events in the story take place at the tail end of Year 3 and the beginning of Year 4 of the main series.

I sent a message asking for clarification to the author's 'Contact Me' email on his website, but I haven't gotten a response.

Some editions have this on the covers of the book: "Book 1 in the Super Powereds Spinoff Series". Like this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... Yep, it's confusing. You can also send this thread to the author and he can comment here or make a new request in the group. He has a verified Goodreads account, and he is a member of this group.
