Part 1 goes from page 1 to 130 in my edition.

What were your initial impressions?
What characters were introduced and how do you feel about them?
What mysteries have been introduced and do you have any theories?

Christina Silva | 27 comments So far, I’m sadly hating this one. I’ve reread the first 34ish chapters three times already and still don’t know what is happening. Simply cannot get into this one.

Sandra (sarias) | 28 comments Just read part 1 and I extremely sad for Annie. The ocd is clearly making her life so much harder. Plus grief of her mother and dog. The mother daughter relationship is hard too.

Gemma-Marie | 15 comments I'm liking this book and am intrigued with the mystery of what Annie did and with the "Hotel" scenes which seem to be set in the future.
I think something happens between Annie and Gabe at the hotel, perhaps not something she intended to happen or even remembers happening.
A few characters have been introduced so far, including Annie's family and her friends. I'd like to see more scenes with Annie's mother in Part 2.
It seems as though Annie's mother passed away from natural causes, so I don't think there'll be any further mystery there.
At this point I don't have any theories on what Annie did in the past.

li (lilali) | 8 comments I'm really struggling getting through this one. I hope it'll get more interesting in the next part. Honestly at this point I just feel sad for Annie

Emily | 12 comments As someone who has anxiety that results in OCD tendencies, especially intrusive thoughts, I really relate to Annie a lot. The feeling of comfort but also complete helplessness to giving in to your mind is really challenging. I'm assuming that the hotel scene is Gabe in the bed. I'm curious to where the timeline is going and what happened with Ike.

Debbie Swatton | 9 comments I found this book slow to start, but has got better as it has progressed through part 1. Her OCD is clearly getting worse, making her life much more difficult. I feel sorry for Duncan he tries so hard to make her happy. Can't stand the daughter.

Marylou Johnson | 12 comments My initial impression is lots of confusion. I keep thinking it's going in one direction and I get it then bam something else is revealed sending me back to confusion. I am not a fan of Annie. Duncan is a saint and obviously so in love with his wife. Tabby is a spoiled brat. Mysteries introduced are what happened to Annie as a young child, who is in the bed in the hotel scene, what happened to Miss Fenton.

Amanda (Smitten For Fiction) (smittenforfiction) I'm having a hard time following the story on audiobook. This is my second time listening to part one. Initial impressions: I'm feeling bored. I don't feel compelled to want to know what happens. But I'm hoping things pick up in part two. The characters feel cookie-cutter, however, as someone with anxiety and intrusive thoughts I feel like the mental illness rep is authentic and upon looking for an interview with K.T. Nguyen I found out she does indeed have OCD and intrusive thoughts. I'm curious to see where this is going and don't have any theories.

Alex Alder | 25 comments Hmm, I don't know what to say about this yet. It took a while to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I can't really take to any of the characters yet. I'm intrigued to see where part 2 goes cause I have no idea.

Tyler | 45 comments I found the first part to be overly drawn out and repetitive. I feel as though I read so much and yet so little at same time. Duncan is super kind and does try to help. I feel for him. Tabitha is a typical annoying teenage girl. I feel Annie is losing her grip on reality and is possibly responsible for Byrdie's disapperance. look forward to part two.

alliluh | 7 comments I've really tried with this one but I just can't do it... I think this will be a DNF. It's just not something I want to pick back up after I put it down.

Jessica | 16 comments The urge to DNF this book is very high right now. I fell asleep reading this one yesterday.

Phoebs | 5 comments My first impression is that this is not for me. I think it has potential but I am just not sure. Things are confusing and I am going to stick with it because I am hoping that Annie gets better. She seems to be going through a lot and Duncan is helping but he's not great. Tabby can just leave the story because she sucks honestly. My mother would NOT tolerate that kind of disrespect. I am going to give it a try but I am not really liking it right now.
