G.S. Jennsen (gs_jennsen) | 68 comments When I first created my Author Profile 10 years ago, I was told spaces between initials weren't possible on Goodreads. Therefore, my profile doesn't have spaces: G.S. Jennsen

However, my correct author name is "G. S. Jennsen." Lately, this has resulted in stub author profiles being auto-created by the system every time I publish a book on Amazon. These stub profiles all DO have spaces between the initials, which leads me to believe this is now possible.

Every time this happens, when I come to Goodreads to add the book or new edition of a book to my Author Profile, I find that the book already exists under one of these auto-created stub author profiles. Then I have to come to this group and ask for the book to be merged into my correct profile.

I'd love to not have to do that any more. So, is it possible for my Author Profile to be modified to add a space between the "G." and the "S."? Note, I tried to do it myself, and the system said only a librarian can make changes to an author profile.

Tami (tamicarvallo) | 6987 comments Hello, no it's still not possible. Those profiles with wrong formatting are created by bots. The bots import the names as they are written on the site where they got the information from. If your name has spaces on Amazon or other retailers the bot imports it like that and has to be moved manually by librarians to your Goodreads profile. Amazon has its own policy regarding author names. Goodreads policy is that there are no spaces between initials.
