Chris Tubbs | 42 comments Hi Beta Readers,

I'm seeking a paid beta reader for the first three chapters of my psychological thriller (approximately 15 pages/6000 words). Your insights would be invaluable in refining the first part of my manuscript and I'm particularly interested in pacing, character development, and overall engagement feedback.

The synopsis is below. If you're available and interested, please email me (chris[dot]a[dot]tubbs[at]gmail[dot]com) your rates and turnaround time.

I look forward to the possibility of working with you.

Best regards,

Chris

Synopsis:

Late twenties schoolteacher Ellie Harper can’t believe her luck: she’s finally met the perfect man in San Francisco. He’s handsome, charming, and leads a jet-setting life doing lucrative cyber surveillance work for the US government.

But there’s one problem: everything about him is a lie.

When Ellie realizes this, she ends the relationship to protect herself and quickly rebounds with a new man. But she soon finds out she’s pregnant.

Five months have passed since the breakup, and she’s just beginning a suburban life, having rebounded with a nice guy, when she uncovers a terrifying truth about her ex: he’s still madly in love with her and will never move on.

Because once you fall for him, he won't let you go. He’ll stop at nothing to prove his love—harassment, spying, blackmail—whatever it takes. Nowhere is safe, neither online nor offline, until you're back in his loving arms.

With her life and family at stake, Ellie realizes there is only one way to escape him.

Here are my Upwork reviews:
"Melinda delivered excellent work on this project and we enjoyed working with her. Her communication was top-notch, she met all deadlines, and her skills were strong. She adapted and learned whatever had to be learned. At one point we asked for an additional milestone, and she was very forthcoming and happy to meet our new, changing requirements. She was hands-on through the entire process. Her greatest strength has to do with seeing the tiny details, some of which we did not see ourselves. On a personal note, I enjoyed working with her and undoubtedly have additional jobs for her in the future. Don’t hesitate. Hire her!"

"I would work with Melinda again. Her prompt communication, adherence to deadlines, and cooperation was much appreciated, and mark her as a true professional. She's very skilled at what she does, and I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!"

"Great work! Will definitely rehire for future projects requiring reviews."

"Amazing job! Would definitely recommend her!"

"Excellent job"
