i just read Burnt Stick as i'm about to teach it. It's a good book in that it educates young kids to the reality of The Stolen Generation. A few things about it i questioned. John says his tribe's dreaming was the Barramundi but they live inland and the only mention of water is a waterhole, not a river. Barramundi are fresh and salt water fish but not really an inland fish, and certainly not a waterhole fish. So Barramundi as his tribe's dreaming fish made no sense. I also found much of the dialogue to be to correct and to formal to ring true.
