This is my first Sanderson book, I’ve attempted Way of Kings but it was hard to dive into during that season (I have two young kids haha) but this one is wonderful so far!!!! Loving it I might have to buy it!!

So question for everyone, Hoid doesn’t seem like a realistic narrator. I keep forgetting it’s him since we can see Tress’s thoughts. If it was actually Hoid just observing we wouldn’t be able to, right? Idk it feels kinda like inconsistent writing…

@Lindsay—I can really relate to not being able to dive into big reads when you have small kids. I barely read at all when my kids were young. I did manage to discover Jane Austen during that time, though, so it wasn’t a total reading loss.😊

And, despite having very limited shelf space for books, I decided this one was worth some reorganizing and purging in order to have. I am looking forward to highlighting all these great quirky quotes.😂

The Stormlight Archive definitely is, one of their favorite curses is a little more on the crass side.

There is one sexually crude reference, but it’s kind of cryptic. Most of the crudeness so far is cryptic, if I remember correctly. I do know what you mean, Bets. (I am not as far as you, though.) I don’t find it to be too much, though. It is an adult book, so I guess there’s that to consider.

His books haven’t bothered me except for a made-up curse in the Skyward books that is too much like the f-bomb. I think there are random things thrown in here and there, but they aren’t bad. (I have only read his Skyward books, which are YA and the original Mistborn trilogy, which are adult.)

From what I remember (I filter and then forget about cursing in books 😅) Reckoners was fine. I believe their curses were like “sparks” and “calamity!” Which has its own reference.

And Alcatraz was fine, and an amazing series in itself, although there is a sort of magic system. Magic is the wrong word, but it’s definitely funny!
