Fallen (fallencatalyst) "My questions aren't important." Kenadee shrugged. She picked up the pace a little, so she was walking next to him. "That's good... I'm really tired of killing dead things.." She said softly. She looked around them, watching for any threats, zombie or human.

Myrtle | 167 comments He gave a long exasperated sigh and shrugged. " Okay, whatever." He gave her a lopsided look then stared forward on the path. " Alright well, I'll ask then. What's the story behind the scar?" He inquired. Feeling like an asshole but he decided he would get it out of the way before they arrive.

message 53: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee tensed when he mentioned the scar. She sighed softly, biting her lip. 'So much for hiding my scar,' she thought to herself. "The story isn't a very good one." She tucked her hair behind her ear, letting him see the full scar. It started right by her eye and went down across her cheek to her jaw. Kenadee looked over at him nervously.

message 54: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments It didn't matter how hardened he considered himself to be, Dean winced at the sight. He didn't expect her to bring it into full veiw and now he was graphing the full reach of the scar. "No, can't imagine a mark like that would be. So what happened?" He actually slowed to almost a full and complete stop on the dirt path. If she was willing to quell his curiosity then he wasn't going to back down.

message 55: by Fallen (last edited Apr 11, 2015 04:48PM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee watched him for a moment. Once she knew he had seen the whole scar, she shook her head, making her hair fall in front of the scar again. She took a deep breath, biting her lip. "It was right at the start of the Outbreak, before it started spreading rapidly. I was still working at that time and we had gotten a call. We were sent out and the person was just starting to show symptoms. We were taking them to the hospital, I was in the back with the patient and the other paramedic was driving." Kenadee paused for a moment.
"The guy had a knife and I didn't know. It was like the Virus had reached his brain, triggering it.. He was just starting to change.. He lashed out at me with the knife, intending to kill. I moved in time and It got me in the face. I was able to give him a sedative, knock him out until we reached the hospital where he ended up dying... I had my face stitched up at the hospital and then I quit...." Kenadee sighed, finishing the story.

message 56: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean absorbed the story, his mind twisting around her up close encounter with the start of the outbreak. He pinched the bridge of his nose then let his hand fall to his side. "Which ultimately saved your life in the end." Slowly but surely it sank in which made him veiw the woman kn a different light. "Holy shit." He tipped his head slightly to try and veiw the scar again even after she recovered it. "I take back what I said earlier then. The whole 'idiot' thing."

message 57: by Fallen (last edited Apr 12, 2015 07:35AM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. She bit her lip, looking at him nervously. She was slightly glad that he took back what he said earlier but it didn't help the nervousness that she got even just thinking about the scar. She looked around them, still watching for threats. "Just, when we get there please don't bring up the scar or that story. It's better off if people don't know.." Kenadee said quietly. She noticed that he was trying to look at her scar still and sighed softly.

message 58: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments "Joykill." He drew back some, looked her over and sighed in exasperation. "If you say so, but a story like that I think would help your case more than hurt it." He shrugged then waved her on to keep moving. " Well, it isn't like it's my story to tell someone anyways. I won't say anything." He said then smirked. "C'mon, we're losing daylight and I don't want to be shot by accident. Jeff and Rigby are blinder than crap at night so they'll shoot anything that moves."

message 59: by Fallen (last edited Apr 12, 2015 08:45AM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) "It's Killjoy, not joykill." Kenadee corrected him. She understood that the scar and the story would probably help her but she didn't like people knowing about It. Dean was the only still alive person that knew the story behind the scar, besides her of course. Kenadee picked up the pace some, not wanting to get shot either. She bit down on her lip, looking around.

message 60: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments (Ha! Oops!)

"What? Ah! Whatever! You know what I mean!" He said then laughed at himself some. "A small time mechanic can't argue with a hot shot paramedic." Dean snorted, picking up the pace where the trees thicken. He pointed ahead of him where a faint glow could be seen between the trees. " There they are.." He heard the retort of the rifle then ducked his head when the sound of the bullet ricocheting off wood sounded. " Hey! Asshole! It isn't even dark yet!" He hollered looking back at Kenadee.

message 61: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee smiled softly. She followed behind Dean, unsure of where to go. She looked ahead, seeing where he pointed. Hearing the rifle, she ducked down quickly. Once hearing the bullet hitting one of the trees near them, she shakily stood up straight again. Kenadee looked up at Dean and gave him a light smile as if to say she was okay. "I'm guessing that was Jeff or Rigby?" She asked.

message 62: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments "Yeah, I'll give you a formal introduction after I'm done beating the living shit out of them." He said then proceeded on, once more waving her on to follow him up the steep incline. He extended a hand up and was helped up the ledge by a guy around his size, shaved head and thick mustache. " Thanks GT." He handed his backpack over then turned around to offer Kenadee his hand to get up onto the ledge. " Who's the girl? What did Mac do this time?" Dean shot GT a glance then shook his head and grimaced which told the male everything he needed to know. " Damn, sorry man." He said patting his shoulder before walking off to distribute the goods gathered.

message 63: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee followed after Dean. She bit her lip, watching from below as Dean talked to the guy named GT. Kenadee took his hand, climbing up on the ledge. "Thanks." She said softly, looking around. "I'm sorry about Mac..." She whispered, now knowing for sure that one of the three zombies they had killed in the building was his friend.

message 64: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments He gave her a weak smile and nodded. " Yeah, I'm sorry you didn't get to meet him." He took a moment to reflect on the loss since he didn't get the chance out there. He shook his head then gave her shoulder a pat. "
"Let's meet the guys." He pointed to GT and led her towards the circle bordered by a few different vehicles and those that sat by a small fire. " That there is Gustavo but we call him GT." He turned back and flipped off the burly bearded twins ontop of the vanpool van. " Jeff and Rigby up there. Then there's Patrick, Dennis, Phill and his wife, Tina. Oh then there's--"

"Dean! Where is the flour I asked for?! How do you expect me to make a weeks worth of tortillas without flour?!"

Dean winced and laughed. " Gamma Gusto. Gt's grandmother." He whispered to her. "With you, that makes our group eighteen strong."

message 65: by Fallen (last edited Apr 12, 2015 10:29AM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) She watched Dean after she mentioned Mac. She could tell that the two of them must've been close, based on how he was reacting. Kenadee nodded, listening to him point out everyone. She bit her lip, looking around at all the other people. She kept one hand on her knife, nervous. 'It should be 19,'' she thought to herself

message 66: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Wallace, an older man in his mid thirties had crept up on the two of them. Placing his heavy hands on both their shoulders. " Deanie-boy, best help your new friend fix her body language. She's coming off threatening." He growled, having caught the sight of her hand near her sheath. " We don't take kindly to hostiles around here, girly." He said then brushed past them to join the rest around the fire. Dean looked down at her hand and touched it to wordlessly ask her to lower her guard a bit. " Calm down. We're good people, some a little rougher around the edges than others. That's all."

message 67: by Fallen (last edited Apr 12, 2015 12:58PM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee jumped slightly when Wallace had touched her shoulder. Realizing it was just a person, she looked down, letting her hand fall to her side, away from the sheath. "Sorry," She whispered. Kenadee looked back up at Dean, keeping her hair over the scar. "I know that you guys are all good people.. It's just a little nerve-wracking going from seeing nobody in about two weeks to finding a group of almost twenty people.." She whispered quietly.

message 68: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments He nodded. "I get it, Kenadee. It's a lot to ask since we haven't had the best start but trust me, you're safe." He whispered back. He cleared his throat and set his hand on the small of her back to urge forward a bit. "Guys..."
" And ladies--" Tina interjected quickly which made a couple of the group chuckle.
Dean huffed "...and ladies, this is Kenadee. She saved my ass back there and she is a paramedic. She's been solo so be easy on her."
Most nodded, few said hello aloud and others gave her a slight wave. " A real medic? Didn't know those still existed!" One chuckled wholehearted. " Take a seat girly, get cozy!"

message 69: by Fallen (last edited Apr 13, 2015 04:54PM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded, listening to what Dean was saying to her. She tried to believe him but she was slow to trust people. She tensed when he touched her back but quickly relaxed again. She listened as Dean spoke to the group, smiling slightly when Tina corrected him. She bit her lip, trying not to get annoyed with the guy's comment about paramedics not being around any more. She had survived this far, partially in thanks to her medical skills. Kenadee bit her lip, glancing around. She sighed softly, relieved that nobody had seemed to see or notice her scar.

message 70: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean gestured towards the stumped seated between the married couple and Wallace. He leaned towards her " they mean well." He reassured her then gave her a nudge and moved around the fire to the opposite side. The group tool a moment to look around and when Mac didn't show, they knew something happened. A golden rule was not to forget those they lost but they wouldn't bring it up at the fire where things were sippse to remain peaceful. " So you been on your own? You're so young though, it had to be scary!" Tina smiled offering her a snack pack.

message 71: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) She nodded, biting her lip. Kenadee walked over to where Dean had her go. She sat down, setting her backpack in front of her. She looked at Tina and shrugged. "The only really scary thing that happened to me was at the start of the Outbreak.." She said softly. Kenadee nervously made sure her scar was still covered by her hair. She looked around, biting her lip. "And I'm really not that young, I'm about 22.." She added. Kenadee looked over to where she had last seen Dean.

message 73: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments "Twenty-two? Honey, you're still a youngster." Tina said with a saddened smile. Dean reached forward to jab the glowing embers to keep the small fire hot as the night started to draw in the cold. " And what, pray-tell, could dwarf hordes of relentless, flesh tearing dead folks?" Wallace snorted chewing loudly on his granola bar bitterly, throwing the remaining jnto the fire because he couldn't stand the health nut, hippie meal. He wanted red meat. " Hey dick, give it a break and maybe, you know, volunteer to go scavenge for food sometime and get an idea what it takes to get that alone." Dean growled jabbing harder at the flames.

message 74: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee shrugged. "I guess," she said quietly, looking around. She sighed softly, looking at Tina again. "How long has this group been together?" Kenadee asked curiously, wanting to distract herself from all her nervousness about being around so many people.

message 75: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Tina smiled slightly. " Lets see, I believe the group started with Wallace, Gt and Grams, Dean, Mac and Otto. The rest of us sorta trickle in and out at the start but no one really knew has ventured this far anymore." She said. "Which is a blessing." Answered another. " Mostly just marauders which we make quick work of." Dean said sitting back on his stump. "Speaking of trickling in, where are you planning on staying?" Wallace inquired.
"With me." Dean answered. " Says who?" Gt snickered.
"Well, let her decide." Tina suggested.

message 76: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. She glanced around, biting her lip. When Wallace asked where she would be staying, she immediately knew her answer. Kenadee looked over at Dean, then at GT. "I'll stay with Dean, that is if he's okay with it." She replied, looking back to Dean.

message 77: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean glanced at her across the fire, gave her a half smile then returned to idly stabbing the embers with the stick. "Aw, I see how it is, girl." He said then laughed to show no real ill will. " I could have hot wired any car your heart could dream of." He said leaning back in a seat, a bang sounded kn the background which startled the group. Jeff turned back from his perch with a sheepish smile " sorry, one on the horizon." Dean stood, dusted himself then gestured for Kenadee to follow him.

message 78: by Fallen (last edited Apr 24, 2015 06:40PM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee watched Dean. She jumped slightly when she heard the gunshot. Kenadee looked around, biting her lip. She nodded slightly when he motioned for her to follow. She stood up, slung her backpack over her shoulder and followed after him. She was cautious to keep her hair in front of her face, not wanting people to see her scar. Once she was walking next to Dean, she quietly asked, "Is it just me or are they really quick to shoot things?" She was talking about Jeff.

message 79: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean cracked a smile and nodded. " Now you see why I wanted to reach this place before dark. Can't complain though, unfortunately between us all they're the best shots." He pressed his lips into a thin line and shrugged his shoulder. Approaching rows of dome tents, he came to the hunter green top and tugged on the zipper to show two sleeping arrangements. Both disheveled because neither occupants saw reason to make their beds before they left. Decided to leave it unsaid that the opposing bed belong to Mac. " You're fairly small so we won't have to worry about room." He held the flap and gestured for her to enter before him " Mine is the right, yours will be the left."

message 80: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. "I'm a pretty good shot, so if you want I can take over from one of them." She said softly. Kenadee followed him to the tent. She slipped inside the tent setting her bag on the left. She sat down, guessing that Dean used to share this tent with Mac. Kenadee brushed her hair out of her face, not caring since Dean already knew about the scar.

message 81: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean smirked, crouching to slid inside the flap and zipping the tent shut. It wasn't much of a shelter in the form of protection against anything but the weather but there was a sense of security inside. He exhaled, collasping onto his sleeping bag "I'll make a point to put a word in for you. Those guys, heh, consider their perch their throne. So you may be able to squeeze in when they want breaks."

He looked in her direction, careful not to let his attention linger too long on her scar. "What do you think of the group?"

message 82: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. She bit her lip. "Okay," she nodded. Her hand absentmindedly traced over the scar on her face. "It's alright, I guess." Kenadee shrugged. She was still really new to the group and didn't know if she liked it or not. The only person in the group that she really trusted was Dean.

message 83: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean turned on his side, gave her a long look then exhaled softly. "Like I said, they're a bit rough around the edges. Most aren't exactly the types you would probably normally want to be in the room with but hey, everyone here as a mutual desire not to be eaten alive so it works. Gt, we call him that because he was a master at stealing cars. Wallace, or lieutenant asshole there was the cop that took police brutality to a whole other level. The sniper twins are well, trigger happy and then everyone else are norms. You, me, Mac, Tina and her husband, then others." He shrugged then gestured towards the sleeping bag. " Relax, get some rest."

message 84: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. She listened to him talk about the group. She guessed that he probably had been with everyone for a while, based on how he had talked to them. Kenadee laid down on the sleeping bag. She bit her lip, thinking. She fell asleep shortly after.

message 85: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean watched as she dozed off, sitting up after he was sure she was out. He pulled the gun from his waistband and inventoried the bullets by dropping the clip. He returned the slip, racked the slide and again glanced her way. Huffing with a half smile " sleep well, hotshot." He whispered sliding the gun under his clothes but within close enough reach should trouble arise. He turned her way, taking her lead and nestling in for a needed night's rest.

message 86: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee slept peacefully. She didn't move in her sleep, staying curled up on her side.

She woke up early in the morning, the sun just rising. Kenadee didn't remember where she was for a minute and looked around quickly. She sighed quietly, remembering. She ran her hand through her hair, moving it to hide the scar.

message 87: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean had since left the tent, making the rounds around the camp. Today was his designated day off after yesterday's run. This meant he would catch an earful and continuously explaining to Grams that the flour he brought back was just as well as her preferred brand.
There was no swaying the woman as her and Tina prepared a small breakfast. He glanced jn way of their tent, watched the fabric of it ripple slightly to signal a good amount of movement. Kennadee was awake, most likely.

message 88: by Fallen (last edited May 04, 2015 03:05PM) (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee yawned softly. She picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder, opening the tent. She stepped out of the tent, closing it behind her. Kenadee looked around for Dean. She smiled slightly, seeing him. She walked over to him. "Hey," she said quietly, looking around. Kenadee still didn't trust anyone except him.

message 89: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean broke away from the woman to meet Kenadee halfway, smiling back at her. "Morning. How did you sleep?" He inquired then nodded in a direction to gesture for her to walk with them. "The boys spotted a herd two hundred yards from the camp this morning. Heading east fortunately for now but it gave me a good opening to squeeze you in there. " Of course it's up to you, but they want to see your skills in action."

message 90: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded. She looked around, walking with him. "I want to." She told him softly. Kenadee was grateful for the chance to prove herself. To prove that she could help with almost anything. She smiled lightly.

Fallen (fallencatalyst) ((Please don't randomly comment on roleplays.. Thank you)

message 94: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments ((... Wow, that's a first))

He shared the smile but it weakened some as he shoved his hands in his pockets. " That's good because Wallace and a couple of others are planning on disposing of the stragglers. It's a small trek to the north of camp." He came off uncomfortable with the idea but Wallace remains the least in favor of Kenadee's arrival. He cleared his throat and smirked " do you have your gun on you?" He whispered, taking a quick look around them.

message 95: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee nodded listening to him. She hoped she wouldn't be one of the stragglers that they wanted to get rid of. "Yeah. I always have my gun," she replied in a whisper. Kenadee reached back opening her backpack slightly. She drew her gun out and closed her backpack. She kept her gun pointed at the ground in front of them as they walked. She looked around them.

message 96: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments He extended his open hand, leading her to the edge of the camp site. " Remove the clip and give it to me," he whispered. His eyes darting back towards the site, to his luck Wallace and his clique often slept in after late night watches. He had skimmed ammunition from the well watched storage hold. Enough to make a difference but not enough to be noticed by the steel eyed watch crew.

message 97: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee quickly removed the clip and handed it to him discreetly. She bit her lip, looking around cautiously. She kept her gun close to her side, hiding it from anyone who might be looking over at them. Kenadee looked at Dean.

message 98: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments He loaded the clip then handed it to her "you only have one clip or do you have a spare?" He inquired. " I have five more rounds I can spare, just keep this to yourself. I snuck this from the stash." Dean spotted some eyes straying their way, he immediately laced his arm over her shoulder and drew her close. Better to think there's a 'thing' going on between them than risk being caught stealing ammo.

message 99: by Fallen (new)

Fallen (fallencatalyst) Kenadee tensed slightly but quickly relaxed again after he put his arm around her shoulders. She popped the clip back into her gun. "Yeah. I have another clip in my backpack," she whispered. "Thank you for doing this for me.." Kenadee stayed close to him , biting her lip.

message 100: by Myrtle (new)

Myrtle | 167 comments Dean nodded thoughtfully. Rummaging through his pocket for the remainder and slipped them into her pocket. " In case anyone asks. You came with this amount of rounds." He hung close. " Sorry, I know we started off on the wrong foot and this isn't ideal but I don't want suspicion. We'd both be dead." He said quietly.
