Michael Roth | 12 comments Hello!

I've got a religious action-adventure novel that's 95% complete at 181k words that I'd love to have some feedback on.

Blurb -

It is the cusp of the end of religious freedom in the United States as the government enacts new draconian anti-religious laws, and churches of many denominations begin organizing an underground effort to fight the rising persecution.

However, before they can ramp up their struggle, a mysterious and terrible enemy appears. This new threat is bent on the destruction of all mankind or its subjugation under their rule. Lukas Dubois, a recent widower and Vatican Astronomer, along with the Roman Pontiff get caught up in the events. When international leaders refuse to submit, the enemy ruthlessly attacks.

In the immediate aftermath, society swiftly crumbles and thrusts people into a new medieval age without an apparent explanation, forcing Catholic husband and father, Greg Meyer, who is also a martial artist, to engage in a fight for the survival of his family. Greg focuses his efforts on recreating a knightly order of the Catholic Church to combat the new challenges. Adapt or die is the catchphrase.

Will a hidden revelation provide a path forward? Will the early organization efforts help people to work together? Will the creation of a new Knightly Order be the world’s only chance? Can these knights prove their mettle and save humanity?

My email is mike@orderoflepanto.com

Thanks
Mike

Ali Waziri | 14 comments Hello,
Thank you for this, it means a lot. My book is a YA: Fantasy about a young Aztec man who sees his family killed then he is ripped away from his homeland.
This story is a tale of revenge and hardship.
Where he meets incredibly well written characters and an incredible plot.
In this story we have empires, wars, battles, love, and hatred. It is truly a story masterfully built. I'm looking for honest and critical feedback back. If you are interested please email me at
waziriali3@gmail.com. Thank you! (I’m unfortunately completely broke I am hoping for free beta reading.)

Marissa K | 16 comments Hi! I have a ~50k just completed (working on editing now by the end of the week) adult romance. Vaguely spicy. But mostly deals with adult concepts such and divorce, tragic accidents, abuse within a marriage, healing from said trauma and then of course strong language.

I’m really hoping to find beta readers asap. This story is my original story, Latinx representation and is technically enemies to lovers. It takes place in beautiful West Palm Beach Florida with a biker/firefighter MMC and a Fiery Plant Shop FMC. There are side charters and side story problems that the characters have to solve as their love slowly blooms. There’s flashbacks and detailed depictions of what happened in the before that has lead to the now. There’s of course a cute pup and bike riding scenes.

I really hope this peaks your interest, if it does email me marissaknight5@protonmail.com

Thanks in advance :)

Allison Rosenlund | 5 comments Hi Noelle,
If you are interested I have a 89k complete coming of age memoir.

Blurb:
The novel Georgia is about undiagnosed childhood mental illness through the point of view of the child, with often quirky, and occasionally profound self-realizations.

Synopsis:
Artistic Allison daydreams away her family’s alcoholic, misogynist, religious fervor. She becomes invisible to get by. While she loses friends and God, will her undiagnosed ADD or her epilepsy lead her off that cliff? Or will the brilliant boy from Rome save her? Does she even need saving? She can escape to New York City, but can she escape her fate?

This is my first novel. I am working on my second novel now.
I have a 30p short story, published in "Fødselsdepression - der er hjælp at få!" from the Danish publisher Frydenlund.
I have a thick skin from being an oil painter, which by default means massive rejections, so tough criticism is welcome.

If you are interested, please email me info@artallison.com

The Boy Who Forgot Tomorrow book blurb by Frank T. Klus
Upmarket Techno thriller
96K
ftklus@mail.com

Tony Tazamia, a fifteen-year-old boy, is facing a daunting dilemma. While having a loving family, a girlfriend he plans to marry, school friends and a good life, an inexplicable evil force has taken hold of his mind, leaving him confused and terrified. When he awakens from a seemingly normal sleep, he finds himself suddenly aged to eighty years old in the state prison system. As he grapples with the shocking reality of his situation, he can't help but feel a sense of loneliness and despair for leaving behind the warmth of his family and friends.

The warden delivers the crushing truth to Tony: he has actually been in the state prison system for his entire adult life. At first, Tony refuses to believe it, believing he must have been kidnapped, and then clinging onto any shred of hope that this is all some sort of mistake. But as the evidence piles up and his memories start resurfacing, he is forced to accept the harsh reality. In his mind he’s an innocent boy, but he shares his body with a notorious alter ego known as the Taz Man. Now, he must navigate through the treacherous world of prison most of the inmates know as a reviled person serving a life sentence.

In between talks with his lawyer and reading a book about himself (a dark and twisted reflection of his past), Tony slowly unravels the secrets of his own misanthropy - the hatred for humanity that drove him to commit unspeakable crimes. Despite the constant victimization and terrorization at the hands of the sadistic warden, Tony refuses to give up hope or succumb to the darkness within him.

Amidst the chaos and violence of prison life, Tony discovers a mysterious place that has been calling out to him since childhood. Was this place responsible for his transformation into a monstrous entity? Or does it hold the key to his redemption? With newfound friendships, newfound knowledge, and unyielding defiance towards the warden, Tony embarks on a journey to uncover the truth and find salvation in a place beyond imagination.

Janine Faller | 3 comments Wow: interesting story, I'd say. I am in the middle of rewatching Supernatural and this could be one of their plots---that's for sure.

YA is not my thing so I doubt that I'd be of much use and I'm going on vacay next week anyway.

best of luck to you. Janine

William Shier | 24 comments Hi Noelle,

If you have a chance to look at my novel that would be amazing. It is a literary speculative fiction novel called THE BRIDGE (90k). Below is an elevator pitch, blurb, content warnings, and some comp titles to give you an idea.

--

The Bridge, a monumental structure, stretches the breadth of The Atlantic Ocean and THE MAN is crossing it on foot to reach his love.

--

A story of determination, hope, fear, war, and love.

The Bridge stretches the breadth of The Atlantic. At one end, THE MAN. At the other, his Love.

Considered a war hero for his actions as a conscript, The Man was living quietly in his village wanting to forget his struggles, until one day he accesses a chat-room on what remains of the near-future internet. There he meets someone who gives new purpose to his life, but they live on the other side of the world. Torn between tending to his dying hometown and starting a new life, The Man decides to journey across The Bridge and embrace the perils that come with it.

The Bridge poses many unanswered questions and presents many impossible things. Those living upon the monstrous structure would sooner let The Man die than help him for free and The Pilgrims travel counter to his heading. The Man must reckon with who he is, what he has done, and what he can still do. We learn of his past and see what he will do to secure his future.

How far would you go for your Love?

---

Some of the literary voice and architectural magicalism of Piranesi (Susanna Clarke) with the political, near-future bite of The Wall (John Lanchester). Sometimes as dark, haunting, and biblical as The Road (Cormac McCarthy).

--

Content Warnings (possible spoilers):

Death, war, graphic violence, torture, references to/implications of SA (no details or depictions), PTSD and other mental health struggles, scenes of suspense and potential horror

--

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

- Will

Chelsie | 57 comments Hi Noelle! If you're interested I would love for you to read my YA fantasy novel (99k words in length), Four Queens' Fates! Here's the blurb:

Every generation in the royal family of the Queendom of Dirington, four sisters are born. And every generation, when the youngest sister turns thirteen, the girls are given three years to kill one another. This generation seems to be cursed. Each sister has different beliefs and ulterior motives, but they share a couple things in common: they all have softer hearts than a queen should, they share passion and fury, and rebellion rises in their hearts.
Firanna is the oldest and strongest sister, and she bears the power of the Fire Element. She struggles to keep a strong face in front of events that threaten to make her mask slip. She seems heartless and cruel on the outside, but inside she’s fighting to keep herself together. Watene is the next eldest and the weakest sister, with the power of the Water Element. She’s resigned herself to death, since her body is weak and she’s dying anyway. But when a certain boy enters her life she begins to think maybe she holds more power than she thought. The next sister is Ealinna, the Earth Elemental. She is the strongest and bravest, but while she isn’t against killing, a bond has begun to grow between her and her sisters. The youngest sister, Airabella, is the Air Elemental. Her unconditional love for all her sisters makes her a prime target and shows she’s unfit to be queen.
When the sisters meet, they can’t find it within themselves to kill one another. As they delve deeper into the queendom’s history, they begin to realize that it’s not their sisters they should hate, but society. Between romance, trickery, and the fight to survive, the four sisters weave an intensely emotional plot. And some day, at least one of them will take the crown. But who will it be?
