Sarah Hoodlet (sarahjhoodlet) | 3 comments Hello! I updated my book's description on Amazon last night, and I'm hoping to have the Goodreads default description match. I tried doing it, but it said I wasn't allowed because I'm not a librarian. Can this be resolved for me?

The updated description is as follows:

One woman’s curiosity reawakens the power of legends—and reveals her dangerous destiny.

Jaslan is a High Lady coming into her own. Always gracious, and innately curious, she’s one of the brightest Water Wielders of her age. On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she chooses a Focus that honors her late father’s memory and allows her to follow her passion. But not everyone approves.

Meanwhile, Jack—Jaslan’s charismatic best friend, and the younger brother of her betrothed—is there, supporting her in every way. Even when he joins a secret organization, and later joins forces with the most powerful man in the kingdom, he does everything he can to keep her safe. Or so he thinks.

As Jaslan leans into her Focus, her research of a magical artifact awakens a legendary power within her. A power far stronger—and far more dangerous—than the Wielders of today have ever known.

A power that even Jack may not be able to keep her safe from.

The Way of the Wielder is the first installment of a captivating fantasy adventure infused with romance, action, and mystery. Don’t miss this exciting page-turner, where a heroine finds the strength to follow her heart—and discovers her destiny.

Contains: Adult themes

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 19735 comments Hello Sarah,

Sorry it took some time for me in order to revert to this matter. I've meanwhile asked around and it looks that it is true that authorized authors can not set a book's description as default.

I think thát was the problem and initially I overlooked the word 'default' in your question.

I don't know if the checkbox as per screenshot below is visible to you, but if it is, you won't be able to checkmark it and save the record; apparently only librarians can set a description as default.

On the other hand, only authorized authors can set a certain book's edition as the default one, something librarians can not do for you.

HI Emmy,

That's interesting. Thanks for looking into it for me. Fortunately, it looks like you were able to update the description, so that's great. Hopefully I won't have this problem in the future, because the blurb won't need to be updated in future books.

Thanks again for your help.

Be well,
Sarah
