Yeah, there were multiple times that I really wanted to quit reading it, but I've never DNF a book before, and I wasn't going to have The Book Thief be my first one, especially with it being a BOTM for one of my GR groups.
I’m not gonna DNF it. I’m just not feeling any motivation to read it. Lll

I decided not to finish this book. I was having a horribly hard time getting into it and it was putting me into a reading slump. I also wasn’t impressed with the language, and when I was talking to mom she said it doesn’t sound very mind building. I just decided it wasn’t worth it to me. I really wish I would’ve enjoyed it more tho and been able to discuss it with y’all!
🥲 I understand Bets! It was required reading for me two years in a row in school so I had to read, and found that I loved it personally! 🙃
Yeah I’m guessing I might love it if I got caught up in it. But I just didn’t love the content and I decided it wasn’t worth it since I have so many other books I wanna read that are actually good clean books. lol. Not saying this one isn’t good I’ve just decided it isn’t for me right now. I may read it later.
I understand! It was an interesting one to read at a Christian school. 🤔
I didn't read this with you but I read it in the past. I found it hard to get into at first but interesting later on. I remember thinking that the narrator being death would be really interesting, but it didn't turn out as interesting of a gimmick as I had hoped.
I actually really like Death as the narrator.

I was galloping through this book, but the further we go, the sadder I was getting. (shouldn't have been a surprise to me, but the way the author writes the emotions kinda hits hard) So I took a slight detour :) Should be finishing it ere long.

I was getting that slightly choked up feeling at the end. Which is about as close as I ever come to crying over a book. I mean, I've gotten more choked up, and teared up on several occasions, so this didn't get me the way some books do.
Maybe I should try it again...
I'll finish up the Ravenwood Saga and then maybe I'll tackle this one again.

1.0% "This book is interesting so far. I don't believe I've ever read a book before that started off even similarly to this one, but I like it."

3.0% "I didn't expect there to be this much talk of death, especially this early in the book.... it kind of puts a damper on things...."

12.0% "At first, I didn't notice any swearing, but after Liesel moved to her foster home, there has been way too much of it for my liking. If overall, throughout this whole book, there were only a couple of bad words, it may not affect my review too much depending on how much I like The Book Thief, but with how much language there is, especially this early in the book, it will most likely knock a star off my rating.. sadly..."

47.0% "Question: Why would an author have the narrator spoil the ending of the book, while having the narrator claim he did it because he doesn't have much interest in building mystery because it bores and chores him? Like, what's the fun in having the book spoiled like that?"

I don't know exactly why, or if it's because I did just finish LOTR and this book isn't comparing well with it.... But the rest The Book Thief will need to be AMAZING for me to rate it higher than 3 stars...."

77.0% "Chapter 58 is really making me really want to say this will be a 2 star read. I skipped almost the whole chapter just because of the topic of it and how much it mentioned. Like I said, I didn't read most of it, so I don't know how much exactly it really says, but it was way too much for me. I saw one word, and I was like, nope, and skipped some pages... so, yeah......"
