Using a pen name??

I'd like to know how many people use a pen name? I currently use a pen name because I write erotica with heavy bdsm themes. I'm not ashamed of my writing choices I just thought to use a pen name because my real name is a common name. My biggest question is if and when I do get famous how do I with people in my personal life? This is purely hypothetical right now.

Lots of writers, like Anais Nin and Anne Rice, published erotica early on under other names. Getting famous and then having to deal with the challenges of your personal life would be a nice problem to have, I think. :) Don't worry about it now; just keep writing!
