They truly are alive and want their story to be told correctly - I guess it means they know their own path - but just want other people to hear it.
My story always strays away from my original draft too. For example, I initially planned to have my character go to school by bus and met her friends on the bus and start talking. But when I write, it might turn into something else like, she goes to school by her own car and helped a lost child find his mother, hence, getting late to school or it can also turn into her riding the bus but instead of meeting her friend she ends up having a fight with her enemy. I don't know, plots are weird and magical sometimes.
I prefer planning my plot. Sure, I change the chapters according with how the characters would feel better but still I love the unlimitted choices!
I believe that writing a plot is different to each individual person and their story, the way you write one never stays the same. Although I know important scenes and events that are going to happen in my story, I find myself sometimes going by the plot I have in my head. However other times - most of the time - I wait and let the characters lead you through a plot like an unknown path. It's funny really, as we are the creator of the story but it's like we are experiencing the story ourselves for the first time.

lmao love ya girlie! and yes it does show how deep our love o books and friendship goes - it also shows as writers we think the same xD

My advice for you is if you are stuck at working out your plot - leave it. Your characters will more than likely figure it out for you, however if you like having everything laid out then start with the main points in your story, what's the focus. What happens to your characters and why? Hopefully this will help you out of your struggle with plots, they sure are sticky things.
