ahh im so sorry i didn't see this! i was with my family yesterday and read a chapter but i plan on reading relatively quickly after this
a few chapters at least. to be honest i might wrap it up late tomorrow or the day after. i can't believe its so short!
but so far i think im three or four chapters in and i already am really enjoying it. i like gatsby's personality a lot and i also like how the narrator actually has character, which makes him seem a little unreliable, but still likeable.
okay im glad im not rushing you then. if you need to slow down at all, we absolutely can
i actually finished it last night...😂
i really enjoyed it! and we can still discuss it as you finish it but i was really intrigued by the characters and some of the symbols
yeah but youve got to think, this is the twenties where they can buy a days worth of meals for a dollar lol
i totally get that! i was getting a little confused towards the end as well. we can definitely talk through it, though!

I was honestly kinda confused the whole time as to what was going on lol
honestly it was all kind of a blur. i legitimately read this days ago and i cant remember much except the ending and a few things in the middle. probably couldnt tell you a single thing about chapter one lol
but i did get lost for a moment in the end. i didnt really register that gatsby had been shot and killed so a page or so later when it said he was dead i had to do a quick rewind😂
i think it was important for gatsby to not be the mc, actually. i think seeing him through the eyes of a likeable, but judgy, unreliable narrator was important for helping readers see his outward nature. i think it helps us see why he, as a person and character, is so appealing. i saw a very similar trope in the secret history by donna tartt

It was interesting, and one that’s kind of a “everybody should read” but it wasn’t one I’ll reread most likely
yeah i feel the same way. though, i will have to reread it for class next year but im glad i could read it before to sort of analyze it (and then show up to class and look smarter than everyone else👀)
on that note, are we ready to officially wrap up the br? i had a lot of fun reading and discussing with you! <3
we'll be buddy reading the great gatsby! open to join ♡︎
