Elena | 8 comments Can someone explain why it won't let me merge these two editions? Same book, just in a different language. When i try to merge them - it won't allow me, because the second book doesn't come up, so i have nothing to merge it with...

David Raz (davidraz) | 12772 comments Quick answer: the primary author name needs to be the same.
If this does not answer your question, please move your post to the "Questions (from Librarians only)" folder, where it should have been posted to begin with.

Olga Silvertongue (olgasilvertongue) | 6723 comments Hi, Elena!

As David said, the primary author for all editions should be Harriet Muncaster (=English version). Editions with a different name on the cover should have that name as secondary author.

I know that the Serbian language exists in both versions - Latin and Cyrillic, but according to Goodreads policy, the name and titles must match the cover. So in this case in Cyrillic.

Also I see in your logs that you've marked the book with the ISBN as invalid.

Note, a librarian who performs an action against policy risks losing their librarian status. I restored it.
What should you do when you see duplicates:

If the wrong edition was shelved 5+ times, you should send two combined editions to superlibrarian folder and ask them to merge. In this case a wrong edition is the edition without an ISBN.
