Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hi Julie! Thanks again for your great picks. This is what I got up to this month, I don't think I did too bad. You really gave me so much to work with. I didn't get to as many as I would have liked so my TBR has become a lot fuller!

Ares by Asia Monique
Ares
This was a cute romance, not real drama just love. That was really refreshing. This was a new author to me and I even read this book and didn't listen on audio which is rare for me. I will definitely be checking out more of her work. Thanks for introducing me to a new author.

Only If You Dare (Falling for a Rose #3) by Stephanie Nicole Norris
Only If You Dare
You recommended book #4 of this series but I had not read book #3 yet so I read that one. I truly enjoyed this one. I wasn't made at Julian for going after what he wanted with Desiree. The mystery of her stalker was interesting, but I felt like it was kind of a side note since they were in another country for most of the book. The one thing I can say about these Roses are that once they see the woman they want they stop at nothing to make them theirs. Whew. Very hot!

Fever (Falling for a Rose #4) by Stephanie Nicole Norris
Fever
This one a good pretend romance trope until the end. I was totally feeling Josiah and Santana. I knew that they were going to be good together. Even their bumps in the road seemed good, but then...but THEN, Josiah went ahead and to a big steaming pile of sh!t and dumped on the tenous but beautiful thing that he and Santana had been creating! I couldn't believe him! It was horrible, I couldn't believe that he did what he did. It didn't even matter to me that he acknowledged how much he screwed up. I feel like he didn't pay enough for what he did. Santana is nicer than me, that's all I will say. I'm so glad she got her HEA, him...the jury is still out!

Tempted by Danger (The Danger Family #1) by Endiya Carter
Tempted by Danger
Dymon, Damon, Damon! LOL, he was toast as soon as Quincy walked through his door! And I loved watching every minute of his fall. I wasn't expecting the BDSM aspect of their story at all. But, I loved the way it weaved into the story. I loved the way that these two just meshed so well with each other. They were able to give the other exactly what they needed. She needed someone to accept all of who she is and he needed someone who would fight for him.

I was so pissed at Quincy's ex. I hate it when people move on but don't want you to do the same. I'm glad he got what was coming to him! But the person who stole the show was definitely little Donovan. He was the cutest!

I'm looking forward to continuing this series. This family is dysfunctional in all the best ways.

Captivated by Danger (The Danger Family #2) by Endiya Carter
Captivated by Danger

I enjoyed this one. I felt like Diesel had the world on his shoulders. I felt for the responsibility he had from a young age being the keep of secrets. I didn't like that for him but it was his lot in life. He was so focused on taking care of everyone else he never really got a chance to enjoy life for himself really. He said that he did and that he was fine with his life. But it was obvious that wasn't the case when he met Greysen! The book was kind of giving me 50 Shades vibes with how Diesel had all these contracts and stuff. I am so glad they nipped that stuff in the bud cuz I wasn't there for that.

I loved these two. Their back and forth, the issues they each had to work through. I loved to see how this strong man became putty in the right woman's hands.

On a side note, I thought that the issues between the Danger parents was really good and it would be nice for them to have a story too!

This book seems to be the last in the series for this family but I am dying for more. There are too many Dangers left to figure their stuff out!

Sassafrass, I'm glad you found some good reads. I added a few of your picks at the time to my TBR as well, and I've added a few more based on your recs just now. Thanks too for inspiring me to actively search out more African American authors.

message 70: by Julie (new)

Julie | 858 comments Nancy H, thanks for some good reads for June. I got through most:

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella I've Got Your Number - Loved it!
It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - I was glad I didn't give in to the temptation to DNF as I ended up really enjoying it.
The Girl in the Mist (Misted Pines, #1) by Kristen Ashley The Girl in the Mist - Enjoyed the "toned down" Rock Chick vibe.
Rocky Mountain Mayhem by Jeannette Woodward Rocky Mountain Mayhem - I liked the mystery but it felt like it was missing an epilogue??
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus Lessons in Chemistry - Just couldn't get the type with this book.
The Simple Wild (Wild, #1) by K.A. Tucker The Simple Wild - Loved the story and the main characters personal journeys.
Drunk on a Plane by Carrie Jacobs Drunk on a Plane - A fun premise with likeable characters.
The Sheikh's Triplet Baby Surprise (More Than He Bargained, #2) by Holly Rayner The Sheikh's Triplet Baby Surprise - Really average writing.
The Vampire Curse Royal Covens (Books 1-3) by J.R. Thorn The Vampire Curse: Royal Covens - The story was ok but felt like a poor copy of other fantasy books.
Enemies with Benefits (Loveless Brothers #1) by Roxie Noir Enemies with Benefits - A fun read & their bickering was some serious foreplay.
The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren The Paradise Problem - Another great read from Christina Lauren!

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Mony,
I am just now getting to list my June books. I had a rough month and didn't get a lot of reading done, but I did manage to finish Mystery Mile, which was very good. Also, although it was in July, I finished Funny Story, which I absolutely LOVED!! So even though it didn't count for June, thank you for recommending it. It is my favorite book of the year so far!
