Missing in Death is a novella found in The Lost. It is also available as an audiobook. Please feel free to join us in reading & discussing this story before we move on to Fantasy.

Aboard the Staten Island ferry, a tourist comes across something she shouldn't have seen - something someone needs kept very quiet. Soon no one can find her. But if she didn't jump, and she's not on board, where is she?

Homicide Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called to the scene and is quickly faced with a shocking web of lies. With time running out and a deadly trail of intimidation and revenge emerging, Eve and her team must find out just what was seen on that ferry . . .

I'll get to it sometime this week, I think.

Michelle | 2650 comments Love that Peabody still believes in the impossible. "You are a mocker"

*smiles* I love Peabody. If the day ever comes that this series ends and/or there is a spin-off, I'd love to see Peabody as the heroine character.

Michelle | 2650 comments Brilliant idea. Or just a series of her squad. Because I'd love to see Trueheart as well

There's a lot of them I'd want to see, but I would jump up and down & cheer if Peabody stepped up into her own starring role in a spin-off (only after there was no hope of more ID, of course.)

Michelle | 2650 comments Her being the LT and her own series. !!

This was such a strange story! Talk about the woo woo:)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I've got to read this one...don't remember it for some reason.

Michelle | 2650 comments Woo, woo?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15053 comments Mod
The strange.

Michelle | 2650 comments It really was a mystery in how things were done. Short and good. As well

Finished my reread & remembered it once I got into it again. This isn't one of my fav novellas. But there are some good scenes in it. Got to love Peabody getting hit on by Jake - and loving it!! haha But she's true to McNab.

Summerset baking/bringing Eve a huge chocolate chip cookie as a way of saying thank you. And that's a really big thank you as we find Eve crossing that shadowy line again...turning her back & letting a murderer walk away...for the right reasons. She doesn't seem to suffer much with this decision. I do believe it's justice but I don't think an earlier Eve would have considered it her place to decide that. And really - is it her place? I just find it interesting how much more often she embraces the "gray" vs. the black & white now.

Michelle | 2650 comments I agree with all that you said Sandra. And just want to add that I'm glad that Roarke didn't have to bring justice to those responsible for Eve's suffering.

lorii (Loriidae) I read the novellas simply to keep abreast of the background story. This one did not hold my interest at all.

I really enjoy some of the novellas & feel they contribute quite a bit to the overall continuation of the series...but, as with any series, I like some much less than others. While this one has its moments, it is not a favorite of mine.

Vera M. | 446 comments not one of my favorite novellas. It was very short, but I didn't find myself getting into it and breezing through it.
The cookie thing was a good little scene.

Penni | 816 comments I just finished Kindred so this is next up. Maybe next week.
