This novel is a fictionalised account of Lucrezia de Medici’s life, before she was allegedly murdered by her husband, the Duke of Alfonso, when she was only 16 years old. Whilst the writing in this book was beautiful and I really liked he concept, it didn’t really pull me into the story, and overall the was a very depressing, and at times dull, read. The book showed just how little power women had, and how they were seen as the property of their husband’s. It was also hard to believe at times, especially the ending, and I often found myself questioning the characters choices.
