My first dark romance was Haunting Adeline, and I'll never regret my decision. Check trigger warning, though. Better Run is also one of my favorites.
Satan's Affair is a part of the cat and mouse duet, but it can be read as a standalone. This book reminds me the most of the mindfck series.

I think mafia romance is a good way to ease into something darker. The Sweetest Oblivion series by Danielle Lori and the Alliance series by SJ Tilly are some of my favs.

Please don’t start with Haunting Adeline…or anything by HD Carlton. You gotta build up to her. Stretch your legs a bit.
