To say the war was about slavery and not also about many other things is to be less than accurate. Slavery was a big reason, of course, but there were other issues at play as well.

(Well, back in my day you had to walk barefoot on the 100 degree or more hot pavement with no shoes because you accidentally left them out on the porch and they melted)

Meh...there will be no energy for it over there.I prefer barefoot, but it does mean you sometimes step on something painful.

(My feet are practically indestructible now. I walk all the time barefoot on really sharp rocks and hit pavement. 🙃)
