Once the pace picked up, there were some surprising twists and turns.
The ending put the fifth star on for me.
One note there were some pretty explicit sex scenes at over the half way point, but I feel if they are not your cup of tea you can just skip them,

John, I almost recommended it to you because I know how much you appreciate time travel.
I like the twist that they brought people who were close to dying forward in time and taught them to adjust to the future.
I'd love to talk to you about it when you read it.

I just began reading it so would love to discuss when completed. However, be patient since I'm currently reading six books.
All you need to know is that in your near future, the British government developed the means to travel through time but had not yet experimented with doing it....
In order to avoid the chaos inherent in changing the course of history—if “history” could be considered a cohesive and singular chronological narrative, another crock of shit—it was agreed that it would be necessary to extract people from historical war zones, natural disasters, and epidemics. These expatriates to the twenty-first century would have died in their own timelines anyway. Removing them from the past ought not to impact the future.
So Commander Graham Gore was brought back through time
and to monitor his progress and health he was given a "bridge" or house mate/caregiver/Ministry employee who narrates their story.
This book is a wonderful mash-up of time travel, science fiction, spy thriller and some say work place comedy. I was gripped from the moment I began reading it.
If this sounds at all interesting to you pick up a copy and read it!
