It's probably cliche to say this about a memoir, but this book really is the most important book I've written thus far. The only way we combat hate and win is by speaking out and by living our truths, which is something I've tried to do since I was a kid. I've not always been as successful as I've hoped, which is what this book is about. Still, I can't remain silent while so many of us suffer. I raise my middle finger in response to the idea that we should remain silent.
