Autistic Book Club Admin | 198 comments This was the first book we ever read at the Autistic Book Club!
That was 3 years ago and there were only 2 people in the meeting, so I thought we could read it again, now there's a few more of us!

If you've read it, how did you feel about this book?

Are you reading it now, how are you finding it?

Elisabeth | 4 comments I first read it several years ago and remember feeling bittersweet. I was jealous of a health system that allowed for time away from work, wanted to “rescue” her, and related to many elements of her life, while also being frustrated with some of her decisions. I’m looking forward to rereading this book with new perspectives.

Douglas Sawyer (ironmanlongrunr) | 1 comments really liked it; but going to have to reread it. Read it will before I really learned about autism, or that I am

Autistic Book Club Admin | 198 comments I'm only 56 pages in, and there's been multiple occasions I've cried or wanted to. The heartbreaking loneliness of Eleanor, the way she is in misinterpreted, mocked and rejected. It's hitting me hard.

Anita S | 5 comments I absolutely loved this book! It was the first time I felt I identified with a main character. While my struggles are very different than hers, our traits are very similar. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to better understand me and my daily struggles.

CraftyChara | 176 comments I read EOISCF before I knew that I was autistic. It's very interesting reading this self-aware.

Autistic Book Club Admin | 198 comments It was the 1st book we read at the bookclub when there was only 2 members, 3 years ago....! But I can't remember finding it as upsetting as I did this time round.

Poor Eleanor, at least she had Raymond at the end!
I hope they had a strong friendship.

Jolene Stockman (jolenestockman) | 1 comments Yes, sooo much this! It's harder to re-read when you know more :( I related to her so much.

Autistic Book Club Admin | 198 comments It was hard trying to hold it together to host the bookclubs, I relate to her too...

Shane Kennedy | 11 comments No comments here in a while but since I read it figured I’d chime in and say I thought it was good. I love psychological fiction and this, while it wasn’t perfect, was still worth the read. Some of the plot lines I felt were more predictable than the author intended.
