ive been seeing a lot more hype about fantasy books (not that there wasn't already a lot before, but it's been surrounding me a lot more). i want to try them but it's hard for me to get into it. (i have a tendency to abandon books i dont like lol) any tips for getting into the genre?

Probably start with something fast-paced but not confusing when it comes to stuff like Fae and maybe pick a trope u like i would recommend throne of glass but idk
I would say pick something that doesn’t have a ton of books in the series. Some of those get very in depth and can be confusing. I would also go for something you like mixed in. So if you also like romance then find out some good romantasy books.
For a light start into the genre, I would recommend YA. Here are some books on my tbr: Narnia, Percy Jackson, HP, Caster Chronicles, Vampire Academy, The Inheritance Cycle. All of them have at least one existing movie and maybe a show. So if you‘re unsure about the book, you could watch these first and get a general idea.
I think a good way to start is picking something fast-paced, not too long and possibly not part of a huge series! Also, maybe starting with urban fantasy or maybe something dystopian could help a little because you don't have to get into a complicated world building with a lot of details, politics and stuff like that. I would start with ya, so something like Shadowhunters, Hunger Games, Divergent.
