madelyn:) | 48 comments ive been seeing a lot more hype about fantasy books (not that there wasn't already a lot before, but it's been surrounding me a lot more). i want to try them but it's hard for me to get into it. (i have a tendency to abandon books i dont like lol) any tips for getting into the genre?

Maureen Vercruysse | 118 comments 1. Try Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments books. There are so many and can be read in their groupings. Check out her website to see how they are grouped. I would recommend reading in publication order but that’s up to you.

2. The Sarah J Maas universe of books- its three series: Throne of Glass, ACOTAR, and Crescent City

3. Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco

4. The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black

5. The House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards

i like that there are no rules or limitations on what characters can do. sure, it's the same with other books (they're limitless) but these authors can do whatever they want.

my friend swears by pjo and i tried those but i couldnt rlly get into them. same with some of my friends and harry potter books. (love the movies, but i rlly stuggle with the books.) my two "most bookish" friends that i see & talk to regularly read fantasy.

i kinda just want to broaden my options as well. i think fantasy is becoming one of the most popular genres and i dont want to be left out. does that make sense?

i like the idea of liking fantasy, i just don't know how to start actually liking it. yk?
