Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments I have just finished the book, my first by Annette Dashify. I look forward to the next in the series and will also try her Zoe Chambers series. It was a fast read.

Yay! I was sweating that one a little, wondering if anyone would come back and say "ugh".

Sherry | 4527 comments i have it but have to finish reading The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store for my f2f book group first

Donnajo | 4355 comments I’m reading it now up to chapter 10. I don’t have KU so my library only had a copy on Hoopla. It seems ok so far. When I pick it up I seem to have to push to read more than a chapter or two but lately that is how my reading has going.

Donnajo | 4355 comments Forgot to say I do have another issue with the book, not crazy about the size of format I could change it but that means switching it on every page. I only usually do audios on hoopla so I think this might be my first ebook. Plus I’m limited to the amount I can get from there used to be only 2 a month but I seem to think it went up to either 4 or 5 a month.

message 12: by Ann (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments DonnaJo: I hope you can figure out how to get the font size to stick on the entire book from Hoopla - otherwise, that is crazy to deal with.

Donnajo | 4355 comments No I've tried in the past so I just had to deal with the rest. I've had to do it in the past with pdfs (arcs) and it was a pain to switch the format on those for each page and they were really small.
I was able to push my way the rest of the book and finished it wednesday later in the day. Gave it a rating of 4. It was good I can see why you said what you did I think that kind of helped me. LOL. Maybe if my library gets the other books in the series when they come out I'll read those. probably won't check anytime soon.

I posted somewhere else that this was available on Kindle for $2.99 so I bought it. I have a couple other books ahead of it so unless I start pining to know what happens next I'll wait a bit.

Melanie Miller (hookedtotheleft) Ok finished - I struggled for the first half - I just wasn’t connecting with the characters and the pace wasn’t fast enough for me (I am a greedy book monster) - but I did really enjoy the latter half - and am invested enough in the development of something (trying to stay super spoiler free) that I am considering the second book 😁

message 22: by Ann (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Melanie, glad you enjoyed it too. The changes in point of view in the beginning did make settling in right away a bit choppy reading.

I had to check the title of this thread because this is EXACTLY how I feel about our current Group Read, The Fury by Alex Michaelides. At least I'm hoping I will feel that way at the end, am about halfway through now.

ChrisQ | 180 comments Reading this now! I am 38 percent in and enjoying the flow. Maybe I needed this pace after my last read? I will hope on spoiler thread when done...

I try to do it, I don't want to be lost or spoiled. Lol

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Cristina: I do try generally to read in order. :) There are times I just can't and will risk the spoilers or being lost too.
