I think he took a look at what they really wanted from him: money. It gave him an excuse for his bad behavior. I've known a couple of star athletes and their families, and this is not what the core family was about. But I can definitely see this behavior from families who have nothing and suddenly they are related to someone with real wealth. Marco was a potential suspect, but that would be like killing the golden goose.
I agree Anita. It happens a lot. I saw an interview with Tony Dungy a few years ago. He said the leadership of professional sports teams needs to give money management or direction to the young men and women who come into so much money quickly.
I read a romance book by Lori Foster, I think it was her, and they had a football team that did provide money management training. I thought that was a fantastic thing, even if it was fiction.
