How do you pick your next book?

I just pick from my TBR which I keep under 100books and pick a book based pf the genre I am in the mood to read (I only keep one book per series on my TBR to help it keep short). I do occasionally review my TBR and make appropriate deletions and additions based on recommendation from social media.

Kind of boring, I know. But it works.

It depends on my mood and whether I wanna switch genres. It also depends on recommendations from those around me, those get bumped up to top priority

I used to strictly follow a list I made for the year, but I've found it's better for me to loosely stick to that list as books that I really should get to in the year and then read whatever I might want to at the moment alongside the list.

For me, it is a complex yet simple process of selection. I pick up books based on world building and characters reviews, I mean characters challenges and missions. Then I put the books in order from High Fantasy, Scifi, and literary fiction, romance, romantasy, etc... I put them in order of interest, and finally, I start the book whose story and characters appeal to my current state of mind...

depends on my mood. i range from y/a to dark romance to fluffy reads to non fiction (rarest but existent!) and pick a book by searching it up or going through some reviews! kinda funny, but i usually don’t even check my tbr, therefore it’s simply endless and at 800+

I sleep, reread my favorite wattpad mafia story (Costantino by Dreams xoxo) take a peek at my tbr, pick something off my tbr, and then proceed to get through it in 5 days and have a slump for the next 3 weeks before repeating.

I usually go based on social media. or based on my past books I have read. the major thing for me is that it has a good plot. So I usually go to the bookstore and if the front of the book looks interesting I read the summary in the back and I go to good reads and see the reviews and skim through what they say.

Choose a book from my tbr that I am in the mood of reading. If not, research and watch youtube shorts of the most popular books of a specific trope or genre. Or ask my friends what they recommend.

I’m a mood reader so it really depends but sometimes I scroll through my tbr in goodreads with closed eyes and choose something random lmao. 😭 I also have the fable app which has an option to choose a book from your tbr.
