Howdy Folks,

Are you ready for our Buddy Read Picks of the Month? This month's picks are:

The sins we hide Iron Outlaws
Love Grudge
Crimson Chaos

I’ve picked these books for their variety in themes, and as opportunities for folks to explore first books in series. (I also haven’t read any of these books, and they look like great entry points into new series)

Buddy Read Pics Framework

As the group grows, and I work on sending out more digests to connect with you all further, I’ll create a month ahead post for recommendations. Please recommend books you haven’t read yet, and would like to read in this post. If there are enough folks who haven’t read the recommended books they will be prioritised.


The process for picking and adding Buddy reads will be


Moving forward the process for recommending and choosing the 3 book options to read each month will be:

1.) Prioritising any books that folks want to read in the dedicated month ahead rec post.

2.) I will add those recommendations, and my own recs to a poll ( that will usually end of the last day of the month)

3.) If there is little engagement on the poll that month I will choose 3 books, out of the six that we have collectively come up with and those will be the Buddy reads.


I want to make the space inclusive for folks who want input, and those who would rather have the 3 options to pick from at the beginning of the month and go from there.

Heya Shannon :) Atm to join in all you need to do is pick a book & as you read, or when you are finished share your thoughts in the discussion threads. All the Discussion threads should be up over the next day. I am also considering creating a Slack group for members to post if they are up for a reading sprint. Would this interest you?

All the books are posted currently on the main group page & start today, with the exception of the weekly challenge books, which have different start and end dates.

I'm a bit confused too.
I got an email notification that the group would be reading Property of Drex #1 by C.M. Owens on May 8th. But I don't see a thread for that.

Heya, apologies I had to take care of family yesterday so my entire day was wiped & I had intended to add the discussion threads for those. I also had issues with good reads not letting me add some of them. I'll work on adding them tonight.

Every time I add a topic, I needed to confirm it with the Captcha and that is where I am having issues atm. It allows me to add 2-3 and then I have to leave it for a bit, otherwise it won't let me add the topic without verifying it, and the verification Captcha keeps playing up (Apologies for any delays) I will keep coming back to it.

I forgot to tell you some of the GR gremlin problems with moderating
You can only do so many threads in a certain amount of time.
If it won't let you list a book for a thread then you need to change the edition your trying to work with.
This year GR has decided to make THOUSANDS of editions and books OBSOLETE!
I think you came list 3 threads in an hour. But there is also a daily limit.

If they had the information in Mod help it would help all groups.
But last year GR made all kinds of changes and didn't inform anyone.
So a lot of the groups had to learn what was going on.
The edition thing the started this year and no one knows about it until they go to write a review for a book or use it in a buddy read or thread of some sort.
And they have gone Captcha nutz.
It pops up all the time for all kinds of ridiculous reasons.
