Were you surprised to discover Jamie was Amy? Why do you think everyone was so cruel in keeping Amy's situation a secret from McKenna?

I was surprised that Jamie and Amy were one and the same, as this possibility hadn't crossed my mind.

Amy was a minor and her aunt her legal guardian, so it was her decision. The aunt blamed Mckenna for bringing Damon onto the scene.

I wasn't surprised as I'd suspected as much early in the story. It's inexplicable as to why the aunt turned on McKenna so viciously. Yes, McKenna brought Damon into the lives of her family but she wasn't responsible for his psycho behavior. She compounded the tragedy for what she did to McKenna and separating Amy from her sister.
