This is the 2nd prequel novella to the Psy-Changeling series. I have read later books in the series, but these early novellas give a good bit of background and a general feeling of how the Pack members are connected. The story is about Emmett, a member of the Pack Security Force, and Ria, a human who is attacked by a gang member of Vincent’s Crew, who are trying to take over organized crime in San Francisco. The Pack is determined to remove the gang from the City and establish their reputation as a group the humans can trust.

Good story. Love seeing some of the characters who later have their own story as young boys and see Lucas growing into his role as Alpha.

I still want to try one of her books this month. This book has enough of the monthly tags to put it in the fantasy romance folder. I know you can’t count it for BWF because of the length, but it can still go in the monthly folder.
