RaeHaw23 | 16 comments Hopping on here to find out too! I bought it as the first to read because I thought that is the prequel. But I guess I was not sure either!

Laura (laurasteiner23) | 4 comments I’m in the same boat, SJM recommends to read it third if that helps at all :)

summer⁎ ˚ ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆ i think if you read it first it's to get the full fantasy experience and if you read it third it's to get the romance experience??

message 6: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Highly recommend reading it 1st! I had the best experience that way & if you read it 3rd, then some of the book is already spoiled for you cause it mentions things in the others.

Esther Lumanauw | 12 comments Please, please read it first!!

Cassidy | 347 comments I would recommend reading it third! This is publication order and when SJM intended the novellas to be read. Yes reading first is chronological, but prequels are typically not written first for a reason.

Think of meeting a new friend - you gradually get to know them and the longer you’re friends the deeper that connection gets and eventually you learn their entire backstory and traumas/why they are the way they are. That’s how I look at it. Read Throne of Glass- meet Celaena and gradually get connected to her before diving into her entire back story.

All in all though, don’t stress too much about order. I would recommend reading TAB before Heir of Fire though, I personally found the info helpful for understanding HoF and the rest of the series.

Sydney Moss (sydneymoss) I vote first! I think it sets the stage for the rest of the books plus it’s what actually happens first

message 10: by Malene (new)

Malene | 61 comments Personally i would read it first. It gives you so much insight into how the main character is and why she does the things she does. Also I've heard that a lot of people who read it third finds it boring and a bit underwhelming, so i would (and have) read it first

message 11: by Grace (new)

Grace Denholm (gracedenh08) | 27 comments first for sure !!!

Milla (active on week days) I’m reading it first right now, but I know a lot of people who had read it first as well, so I would stick with that.

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (adayinmymediocrelife) | 64 comments I read it first and very glad I did, because if you read it in any other order the story is spoilered by the ones you read before it and you then know how it ends. Also, you get insight into Celaena's back story which gives you a better understanding about why she is the way she is and does the things she does.
