How did you experience the book? Were you engaged immediately or did it take you a while to get into it? How did it make you feel reading it?
This book encouraged me to look further into the abolitionist history. the family did not make the history books but the movement certainly did!

I thought it was very sad to see how her father on his death bed explained how he abhorred slavery but unfortunately felt like he had to conform to his society. Like you said, it's amazing how diverse their feelings for racism were.
