Quentin Daniel and Lucas’s friends believe he needs help. They and Lucas feel the solution is to get involved in a case with a team. Therapy was suggested but to the extent where he could be prescribed drugs. This story was written in the 90s. Was that the prevailing thing about therapy in that era? Did it appear that Lucas focusing on a gnarly case was a good solution? Would the response be different in the present day?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Personally, I think that drugs are the "easy" solution for mental illnesses. Putting Lucas on another high-profile case is like putting a soldier with PTSD back in battle to help him get over the problem. It is a recipe for disaster. He will strike out as soon as Lucas gets into a tough situation.

Today, he would be on administrative leave at a minimum. He would need to go to therapy until the doctor released him.
