SOLVED. Fantasy, I think it was white with moon phases,, hunter following bow and arrow he shoots into forest to follow to find his target. Displaced at young age (may be Indian writer)

So this is all I remmber I never finished the book I may be off on some info. I think the book not hard cover was white or off white and had moon phases that’s what drew me in. It started with a boy and his grandfather and they were basically colonized. So they were foreign people came in took them to presumably America took there relics put them in a museum gave them technology the MC was young at this point with his grandfather. he had a friend who was a seer they knew they would die and he was to make a bow and arrow with her. Flesh and bones what I remmber is the quiver would like speak to him sort of and he ended up shooting his arrow into this magic bad Forrest that
People didn’t usually come out of and he would follow the arrow to find what he was looking for .im pretty sure at the same time hiding out from bad people and monsters i didnt get that far into the book but i think the writer was Indian . One of the characters ends up at a voodoo man to be healed in some weird way. I can’t remmber much more please help!!!! Need to find and finish
