Haven’t been pushing for intentionally difficult or educational books, but the ones that I’ve happened to read have been wonderful. In my reading history I’ve already made a massive dent into the lesbian/queer subsection of published books in my libraries, so my Libby is largely filled with pre-holds of books not yet published. There’s always more though!!
Favorite author of the year so far is undoubtedly Neil Gaiman. Read two of his this year so far, the Ocean at the End of the Lane (marvelous book and such an incredible play, too), the Graveyard Book, and Trigger Warning (a short story collection). Next up is Smoke and Mirrors, another anthology. This year might even be the year I finally read Coraline, whose movie terrified me beyond belief as a kid and I’ve avoided since.
Other favorites this year have probably been Gwen and Art Are Not In Love (Lex Croucher), Howl (Hutchinson), and the Rules series (F.T. Lukens).
