Anthony | 11 comments I’m looking at this paperback copy of Abby Jimenez’s ‘Just For The Summer’ book, and I’m wondering how the cover I’m looking at was approved for publishing. It looks jpeg like when someone off of Amazon self-publishes a book. Even the book’s summary on the back, the font is all jpeg.

But then if you see her ‘Yours Truly’ book, it’s all printed fine, and not a sight that hurts your eyes. This kind of stuff is what would turn me away from even picking up a book by an author. Anyone know how this winds up happening? I did really like Yours Truly from just the first page alone being enough to get my attention.

But you see these kind of oddities and the book being praised by familiar authors, and it still confuses me that they decided to okay the cover to be published. Is it because it’s paperback and not the hardcover? Am I just looking at a faulty copy?

cockatiel forger | 31 comments sometimes even published works come off a bit faulty. i think some book companies have better graphic designers than others - some have the most amazing covers while others look like they were a high school project.

i read a lot of self published books and a lot have that same 'beginner' format. only the gryphon insurrection series look like they're been published by a company.

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Very often books on demand have a very small font. I stay away from them.
