In an article in the Guardian, Weinberg picks 13 books from Voltaire up to the 21st century.

I liked the article but thought that the list was narrower in scope than I expected, specifically 3 of the more recent books focussed on string theory. Nothing on geology or deep earth history, but not perhaps a real science?
