A case of knowing the city and even the author.

Marele Day came to the ballroom dance studio of Bob Potter, in the late fifties early 60s, very briefly and I got to know her a little bit. I went off to Wollongong Teachers College and Marele, still attending Sydney Girls High School sent me a reasonable number of letters as we corresponded and "let off steam" about our lives.
I did later buy all her books and enjoyed the idea that I knew the author, who was "taking me for (virtual) rides around Sydney" as Ms Valentine attempted to solve crime. Again, the main reason I enjoyed the book(s) was being taken through the Sydney streets and reliving my younger years.
