unfortunately yes, you have to be on the webpage, it doesn't work on the phone. But go to that group, click on edit membership, then leave group. Hope that helps. You can also change the way you get notifications if that bothers you as well. I have mine set to where I only get the notifications here on goodreads and not email and text.
