[BWF] An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir 4 stars

I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did. I was looking for a book that fit this months tag that I could use for the letter "T" in BWF and was available from my library. Told in the voices of Elias, a student about to graduate into the elite militia of the Empire, and Laia, a free woman from the scholars, their lives become entwined as Elias hopes to leave the Empire and Laia seeks the help of the resistance to free her brother from the Empire. The world of the Empire is harsh dealing with death, destruction, and war. The Scholars hope to someday have control of their territory again.

The book is a whirlwind of action with twists and turns along the way. There is a small amount of romance along the way, but it isn't all gaga and I'll give myself up for you. Because this is not a stand alone book it leaves you with plenty of questions that beg you to read the next book for answers. It will be interesting to see what comes next.

I have this on my list for this month - it’s sitting over on my kitchen workbench, beckoning! But it will have to be patient. Glad it’s so good.

This has been on my list to read forever, and has been in my line-up the last couple months and still I have not gotten to it. The big reason for that is the YA tag it holds. I have had some bad books with that tag, but it seems from the latest reviews I have seen this may not be a problem. Nice review
