the Hardy Boys my friend is almost fourteen loves them and owns them all
Famous Five series by Enid Blyton, Adventure series by Enid Blyton. So much more suspenseful than Nancy Drew, Hardy Boyes or Harry Potter.
When i was about 11/12, i liked the American Girl Mystery books. The Stolen Sapphire and The Curse of Ravenscourt were my favorites. Nancy Drew is always a good choice too.

or she might like The Chikdren of the Lamp series
that should be The Children of the Lamp series.
I don't know about mystery, but if you want to recommend a book to someone who is 12 years old to start reading, "Maze Runner" were the first books I read at that age. The author is horrible, but I always really liked the books. I recommend.

any Agatha Christie books are also good, the language is a little different but you are sure to enjoy them!! Also, The Mystery series by Katherine Woodfine are aamaazinggggg
Isabelle Holland wrote lots of mystery books for kids.
Plenty of good suggestions. I'd suggest the "Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators" collection, especially "Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators in The Mystery of the Coughing Dragon", if you can find those old books.
I loved "A Pocketful of Murder" by R. J. Anderson when I was 12. The plot was nice, the main characters when delightful, and it had a sequel.
The Skyborn series by Jessica Khoury. The main characters are 13 to 14 years old.
FRAMED! series by james ponti. the series follows 12 year old florian bates who works as an undercover spy for the FBI. i read the series in three days (its three books long) its such a good series and has mysteries in every book!!
