Laura | 1148 comments I found books I could read for 1, 3, 6, 9. - I agree with the majority on any of these.

5 seems to be mainly MM, which I don't generally read.

7 wouldn't be a top choice for me. I could find something, but nothing that is currently on my TBR.

9 has a lot of variety.

LaurLa | 5085 comments Berit - your link doesn't go to Elizabeth's completion post, just to the team thread - can you update that?

I've checked us in but MKat probably won't give us a new task until that is corrected... Sorry.

message 364: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Here is your next task!

Task 16 - 112. Each teammate picks two books for the other teammates from their regular (not special) to-read shelf that has been there over a year and the teammate picks one of those books to read. No pass for this task.

Each of you will select two books from your other teammates ’to-read’ shelves that have been there over a year. (If no books over a year on their ‘to-read’ shelf, then select from the 20 oldest books on their shelf. But how is it possible to not have books that have lingered over a year?!) Each teammate will pick one of the books selected from their shelf and read that book. So each teammate will have to read one book from the six picked options.

message 365: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1148 comments Yikes. So it sounds like you can't use my "up next" shelf, which is what I would have requested you pick from. But I would ask that you keep it closer to a year ago than to the oldest ones on my shelf. I need to go through there and clean up my TBR because there are a lot of books on there that I no longer have any interest in reading.

message 366: by NancyMagaly (new)

NancyMagaly | 76 comments Any series books or less than 3 years would be good for me! It if there’s something you’d really like me to read, then that’s fine too.

message 367: by Laura (last edited Jun 04, 2024 03:56PM) (new)

Laura | 1148 comments My picks:

Berit:
Secretly Yours (A Vine Mess, #1) by Tessa Bailey The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros

LaurLa
The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3) by Kristen Painter Better Hate than Never (The Wilmot Sisters, #2) by Chloe Liese (Honestly, I picked it because you might be able to make it work for an orange cover for Book Games)

Nancy
Flock (The Ravenhood, #1) by Kate Stewart Things We Never Got Over (Knockemout, #1) by Lucy Score (I loved both of these, although I've seen online that it's either love or hate with them). Honorable mention would have been The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but it's not a series. I almost picked Hollywood Husbands for you, but then I saw you read the first one in 2013, and if it's been that long, there's probably something that has kept you from it, or your tastes have changed, so I went with books I loved.

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments OK I will get to this after dinner.

message 369: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Agree with Laura - please stick to closer to a year than 2013 (which there are ALOT of still lingering on the regular to-read shelf....).

Laura, those are good picks, thanks. I actually have the maybe orange book slated to read this month!

message 371: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1148 comments Maggie Moves On is set in Idaho, so I was already planning to fit it in before the 15th!

LaurLa and Nancy, you’ll have to work hard to beat that choice. 😂

message 372: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments Here you go, Nancy. I know that one of these is not part of a series, but it's still a great book! You had a lot of great standalone books on there as well. And please pick out newer books for me too. I have no idea what's on there from 10 years ago

message 373: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments oh perfect!

NancyMagaly | 76 comments Thank you! Ladies. I’m working on your selections

message 375: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Here are my picks:

Laura
Born in Shame (Born In Trilogy, #3) by Nora Roberts picked for same reason, orange cover
Bite Me (Pride, #9) by Shelly Laurenston maybe the author initials will help you

Berit
Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert def an unfairly cute book!
Jane Doe (Jane Doe, #1) by Victoria Helen Stone rather chilling and not my usual genre... but still a good read

Nancy
My Favorite Souvenir by Penelope Ward Penelope Ward is a favorite of mine
Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1) by Talia Hibbert a really great read!

message 376: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Thanks, Berit - I decided Finlay is not for me but the other has merit, we'll see what Nancy brings!

LaurLa | 5085 comments Great picks! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get my book done until late Thursday. I need to read another one first and I'll be traveling and cleaning out MIL's old condo tomorrow.

You came pretty close with The Beloved. I have it checked out from the library, sitting on a shelf right by reading chair. It will be read before the end of the June. And Briggs is great. I enjoyed the first one in this series. It was nice to read what she can do outside of Mercy Thompson.

message 382: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments is the series rule in place for this? Like could I read the second book in the Tessa Bailey series?

message 383: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1148 comments I saw the second book on your shelf, and I was going to pick it, but then I saw you hadn’t read the first I didn’t want to be mean.

message 384: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments yeah that first book has pretty bad reviews, but I do appreciate you thinking about that.

message 385: by NancyMagaly (new)

NancyMagaly | 76 comments I'm going to read Get a Life, Chloe Brown. It was between that one and The Secret Place. Get a life is shorter and I wanted to make sure I was done by tomorrow. The others were not available to borrow. All excellent for my up next shelf.

MountainKat | 31593 comments I am heading out today, so will check books later. 😊

Last Task - Read a book with a naturally occurring body of water on the cover.

June 9, the last day of this round, is Donald Duck’s birthday! And we all know how ducks love water… To help Donal celebrate his 90th birthday, read a book with a naturally occurring and permanent body of water on the cover. Allowable bodies of water would include an ocean, a lake, a pond, a river, a stream or a waterfall. Pools, puddles and ice rinks are not acceptable. No pass for this task.

Remember completion posts with errors or missing elements will not count towards your team total or the completion of this task. The task will be considered ‘completed’ when each team member has completed one book for this task, additional books will count towards a tie breaker if necessary. Help each other out by double checking posts are complete with the first edition Kindle page count!

There is no need to post a team completion in the Q&A thread, I will be checking all team threads at the conclusion of the challenge. 😊
