SOLVED. Adult Fantasy from early 2000s that includes a woman with magic who has to separate from the man she loves because he has to marry someone else

What I remember is there’s the female protagonist and I believe she discovers she has magic. I think she works in the castle or she’s taken to the castle? She meets and ends up with the prince, or someone who has to enter an arranged marriage. They have to separate so he can marry the girl in another kingdom, I think she boards a ship and some pint but don’t recall if she travels with him ans part of the army to the girl’s kingdom. He marries the girl and is trying to be nice and make the situation work. She becomes pregnant and he’s happy about that but close to her due date she is killed in the castle along with other people by this mythical beast/bear/monster that he may have brought to life by spilling his seed on the ground in his tent before he marries the girl? Anyway, he feels super guilty and I think he tries to hunt down the beast. I think the two characters end up together at the end.
