Several Authors to a series

I recently bought a book that belongs to a series I have read several books from. Annies Attic Series. I was surprised when I discovered this book was from a different author. When I looked it up I found out this series has several authors. Is this normal? How would you feel about reading a series from several authors?

I would say it’s not normal in the mystery genre, but more common in romances. Harlequin, for example, frequently does multi-author series.

It surprised me I am used to only one author in a series. I guess I kind of thought of the series being part of the authors project.
