The sleepover scene was so sweet. I'm curious about Cam's story I assume based on that interaction with her and Dusty its going to be about them.
I assume Ada thinks people don't like her is from the damage her ex did. And possibly her lack of friends growing up. She seems to have been adopted by everyone here really well.

This was good. I think book 1 was better but maybe thats just me. Wes was great. I think he pulled this story together he was so patient.
A few criticisms, we had a brief moment of her ex calling her that was never explained which is odd. We don't really get any reason for Ada's behaviour at all, she just is distrustful and lacks confidence in herself and thats all we get. She quits her job in the end after the author had given Wes a speech to Ada about her following her dreams. Disappointing.
Its a good read but this felt more debut than her debut

Chapter 1-10

(view spoiler)[ The main thing I like about this story so far is the friendship between Emmy & Teddy, and I always enjoy familial relationships when everyone clearly loves one another.

There are moments when I wonder if they are really in their mid to late 20 to early thirties (and I mean all the characters, not just the MCs).

Gus is so overprotective of his sister it's ridiculous. She's a grown ass woman. Wes is protective, but he's more laid back.

I also love Riley, who clearly loves her aunt.

There is clear chemistry between Emmy & Luke and I'm glad they are finally getting ready to do something about it.

I didn't like that she used his past to measure who he is today, but I'm glad she's starting to realize it's more to Luke than she knew, because he's pretty freakin' fantastic now. (hide spoiler)]

Before I talk about anything else, I want to say that I love her dad & Teddy's dad.

I honestly don't know how everyone didn't know about Emmy & Luke, they did a horrible job of hiding their relationship. Overprotective Gus just isn't very perceptive. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21-end

(view spoiler)[ Luke's family sucks ass and I feel like we didn't get enough info about that entire dynamic. I may have felt better about his mom if she had offered an apology for the things that has them estranged in the first place.

I was proud of Emmy for working with Luke to get past her fear enough to do what she loves and happy she was able to retire in a good way.

Gus disappointed me with his reaction. I wasn't surprised, just disappointed because Luke has been his friend since they were boys.

In the end I just wanted an epilogue that gave us a glimpse further into the future for these two, but since it's an ongoing series for this family or town, I guess we don't need that quite yet. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-9

This started better than the first book IMO, but once I got to the end of chapter 9, I was disappointed in Ada. (view spoiler)[The way she decided to deal with her attraction to Wes ticked me off a bit. It may have left the bitter taste in my mouth because he was going out of his way not to make her uncomfortable and I'd just learned about him dealing with depression disorder. She could have drawn her line in the sand without coming off a bit of a b*tch, especially since she wasn't wrong in what she said, just the delivery sucked to me. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 10-19

Things have taken a turn for the better. (view spoiler)[Ada wants to avoid and entanglement with Wes, but he is so earnest and let's not forget attractive, that she's having a hard time. Luckily that little blip from earlier isn't how she's choosing to move forward.

I actually start feeling bad for her after learning more about her life prior to coming to the ranch. I'll be happy for her to get the love (romantic, familial, and friendship) that she's been missing.

I'm also really looking forward to whenever Cam & Dusty gets their story (I went to look to see if there would be one as soon as I read about them both and experienced them in the same room). (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 20-end

(view spoiler)[I completely understand that Ada had been put through the ringer with her ex, however, I felt like she should have seeked some counseling for her issues regarding this. Being with Wes and seeing how he handles his mental health would have been a great time for her to realize that she needed to speak to someone.

I didn't even realize I was going to say that. What I was going to say:
A grown woman doesn't know how to clean a cut?? Even if she hadn't ever bandaged another person, she's went her entire life without getting hurt??

That scene just stuck out to me, since she seemed unsure about tending to him and thought if she wasn't doing it correctly he would say something (while she was cleaning the wound).

Anyway, something that I was glad to see was Wes giving her space to work out things in her head when he realized what happened. He had confidence in her ability to realize that he wasn't anything like her ex.

And did I zone out, because I completely missed if she looked at the email from her ex. I didn't care enough to go back and check though. (hide spoiler)]

I like these two. I don't consider myself a huge fan of second chance romances but I'm loving this so far. I'm enjoying the back and forth they're bouncing around each other. I'm so curious why they broke up.

I'm currently on book #1, Done and Dusted but i must (view spoiler)[ sadly say, that it's not quite gripping my attention as i was hoping for...
While I think that Luke sounds like a hot papacito and Emmy is quite cute, they don't convince me as a true couple... Apart from the picy scenes, which by the way were quite nice and really steamy with many cliché phrases - I need you in me / you're so big / he stretched me / etc. - I don't really feel the connection there. For me, it reads like a romance for young adults, which I no longer really enjoy...

Now, Amos was great so far and I also enjoyed that Emmy got a bit of a backstory and personality.. In general, I don't appreciate how Luke is written from his own personality. Now, hear me out : Yes, he is great at pining after Emmy but that's it. Whatever tragic backstory the author tries to pin on him does not fit and even the writing style from his perspective is different - a lot shorter and as if he were less intelligent somehow ? (hide spoiler)]

So far, it's not really my cup of tea but now that i'm at 59 %, i'll finish it as it is a quick read in general.
