Some of the backstory is that I spent 3 weeks on the island of Poros, Greece collecting information, interviewing locals, doing research for a murder mystery in Greece. Only to realize I spent 3 weeks trying to mold Poros Island into a setting for a murder mystery in the style of Agatha Christie...enclosed cozy setting. Within 20 minutes...maybe 10 minutes of stepping into the walled gate of Monemvasia I knew I was changing my book location to this mystical islet rock.

John is our official winner!
Feliks is forever our official group jester!

Hey, it sounds like a great setting for your mystery!

1. Members enjoy getting into spotting clues. So we should include very interesting small clues within photo if possible.
2. Photos: Be careful. Best to use your own photo in order to avoid any ownership rights issues.
3. Some members might enjoy photos of locales from already previously published mysteries.
4. Is it possible for moderators to put Quiz/Guess the locale photos in a central group location and/or have as group background temporarily?
5. Great to have quiz jesters whenever possible...they make everyone's day.
6. I now despise Corfu after all that.

Learnings (gently edited version)
1) All quizzes should have a reasonable chance of being solved by participants on their own
3) Quizzes are best with tight focus, sentimental journeys to revisit past quizzes could 'muddy the waters'
4) Photos could be uploaded to 'central storehouse' in the group photo section --and linked to by the Quiz-Mistress (if Quiz-Mistress knows how to hyperlink!)
5) Why so serious? Quizzes should always be fun!

Good job! Now yer cookin with gas!
p.s. I can't believe though..in retrospect, now..that you thought anyone would readily guess MONEMVASIA. Not exactly a household word, is it? The only way anyone would ever find that term would be an internet search. But you began the quiz saying, 'look at this picture, where was it taken?'

3. The buildings in the picture face south and they are not easily seen from any other body of land ... best by boat (or a very good swimmer)
John...it may be an island and it may not be.
Hint: what is really close to being an island...so close but not quite. Often these have been islands off and on in history.
Ohhhh. John is getting warmer. Not a peninsula. Peloponnesus is very warm and getting very hot.
No more clues. I will summarize critical clues though: Greece. John's guess Peloponnesus. South facing. Venetians. Feliks' islet.
Peloponnesus and islet is a scalding hot guess. ..."
Y'know...I'm just thinking that if this quiz had taken place a couple centuries ago they would have clapped you in irons and placed you on trial. These clues are crazy! lol
Like, you must see from the map how big the Peloponnesus is. How can a land mass that huge be a 'scalding hot' clue? 'South facing'? Half the coastline faces south lol lol lol
Only with great reluctance will I be drawn into this kind of thing again. I like a fair chance to win any game!
