Anya Neusiis | 11 comments So, after reading Rhythm of War, who do you think Odium's champion will be? Also, who will live through the book, and who will die?

For Odium's champion, it has to be someone who can manipulate Dalinar emotionally. I saw some interesting comments about it being Adolin or Gavinor (his grandson). We know now that it's not Zellion (probably).

Oohhhh I had not thought about it possibly being Adolin or Gavinor! Taravangian is up to something, so it’s definitely going to be a huge twist…. I feel like Adolin is too pure to get corrupted, but you truly never know. Gavinor would be absolutely crazy, I could actually see that… it was originally going to be Moash right?

Marwan | 133 comments Moash was supposed to be Rayse's champion.
Rayse has lost his will ages ago to the intent of Odium, he was just blinded with passion and hatred, so he made his champion to be a true voidbringer in Moash which lacked finesse and cunning really, it would have been the best match-up for our heroes because it was just going to be another battle between good and evil.
Taravangian though? no he's a real problem, and you can be sure his champion will be someone who breaks the radiants emotionally rather than physically. I'm seriously going to cry if Dalinar or Kaladin (I still think he could be a last minute champion) gets forced to fight Gavinor or any child/innocent person who was tricked into becoming Odium's champion.

Adeline R =) | 5 comments So I've been thinking about Wind and Truth, and I'm really excited! But also terrified. Cuz Brandon Sanderson likes to end series by killing people.............................. I swear if Kaladin dies Brandon Sanderson better watch out because I ain't letting him get away with that. I bet he's gonna die.............................. BUT NO HE CAN'T HE NEEDS A HAPPY ENDING. and this coming from me....... I normally hate happy endings but Kaladin has been through so much :(

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments I doubt Adolin would be the champion, but it could be Renarin seeing as he has a corrupted spren. Though... he can't see him, so maybe not. Moash is a good theory, it could work, but I can't see it being Gavinor. He/She would still need to be capable of fighting.

Marwan | 133 comments Kaladin does need a happy ending or I'm gonna seriously cry.

It's true that Gavinor can't fight, but maybe the contest of champions isn't an actual fight but more of an emotional challenge. I can't think that Odium's master plan would hang on the result of a mere fight.

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments True... I kind of think it will be someone from Bridge Four. Maybe Lyn... but I kind of think Dalinar might die, ngl. Like, as an atonement for his past mistakes, saving the world in the process. Then, he can be soulcasted by Jasnah and placed next to Gavilar. No sword for him though; he's holding a copy of The Way of Kings.

message 8: by Marwan (new)

Marwan | 133 comments Epic and poetic! But I think that there will be much more to Dalinar, I have a feeling he's not going away any time soon.
But I'll take what Brandon gives me and I know WaT is going to be beyond epic!

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments So true!!!

I would agree about there being more to Dalinar I have a very strong feeling he will loose and end up being odiums puppet in the intergalactic war 👀👀 (era#2 Mistborn spoilers)… I could be wrong with the timeline thing but Wax v Dalinar in the future??? I could be totally wrong with timeline and other stuff but that would be insanneee

message 11: by Anya (new)

Anya Neusiis | 11 comments I don't think Kaladin will die... in his writing classes on his YT channel, Brandon spends a lot of time talking about promises and payoff. I don't think a death is going to be an appropriate ending for a character who has struggled with keeping living and surviving.
BUT... Kaladin is also my favorite character of all time, so this could be wishful thinking.

message 12: by Kennedy (new)

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments No, it sounds accurate. I don't think Dalinar would lose, and Wax and Wayne are way ahead of them in the timeline. Besides, Dalinar already denied Odium, and I don't think it will happen again.

Trust me, your wishful thinking is shared by most of the fandom, and the more time passes the more anxious I am!!

Jaime wrote: "I could be wrong with the timeline thing but Wax v Dalinar in the future???..."
You're not wrong generally because era 2 does happen after the events of book 5 of Stormlight Archive, but I think that any war between Roshar and Scadrial is going to be a bit more in the future for Wax to be involved, still it's really hard to tell because we have little to no details about era 3 or what comes after Stormlight 5.

As for Dalinar being Odium's general. I think this shouldn't happen because it would take a lot from Dalinar's "You cannot have my pain" scene and Dalinar's overall character development, Dalinar started as a tyrant and a warmonger and I don't think that making a character return to what they were before their development is Brandon's style.

What I do think might happen is Dalianr sacrificing himself and dying to stop or slow down Odium somehow, but returns as a cognitive shadow because of high level of investiture. Dalinar succeeds in defeating Odium, but is forced to take arms again in a more technologically advanced future to face the Scadrian threat, but that wouldn't because he wants to fight or because of Odium, it would be because Scadrians have initiated the aggression against Roshar!

These are my wildest guesses lol!!

message 14: by Kennedy (new)

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments So... is a war between Scadrial and Roshar like, inevitable? Confirmed?

message 15: by Marwan (new)

Marwan | 133 comments Not confirmed but foreshadowed in Mistborn era 2, Sixth of the dusk, and Sunlit man, etc. We have our players in the conflict like Odium(possibly), Discord(dark Harmony), the Radiants and the Ghostbloods.
But then again the story could technically go anywhere, and we need to see how SA 5 ends, and how Mistborn era 3 will play out

message 16: by Kennedy (new)

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments Yeah... I'm hoping it doesn't come to war between them. I'd rather they have to fight together against something.

message 17: by Marwan (new)

Marwan | 133 comments That could happen as well. I kind of feel that they would eventually join forces against Trell/Jaddeth/Autonomy.
But that is far future speculation when the Cosmere will eventually be a sci fi/fantasy series which is crazy. If the Cosmere is truly completed it's going to be the most epic work of fiction ever written!!

message 18: by Kennedy (new)

Kennedy Holmes | 22 comments Yes! It might already be.
