Fern ♡ (fernandaalexzandra) | 21 comments Have you ever stopped reading a book because you lost interest or just didn't understand what was going on, so you left it or THOUGHT about abandoning the book? I am having that dilemma; I lost some interest in this book called Holy Radishes! by Roberto Fernandez, and I am so confused about what's going on. I feel guilty for thinking about abandoning the book, but I wanna give it the benefit of the doubt :(

Dionndra | 130 comments Hello, Fernanda. 👋🏽 I DNF a book in the past. It can get confusing, and boring sometimes but don’t overwhelm yourself if you can no longer continue reading. I like reading audiobooks sometimes, so that it doesn’t feel like I’m overloading myself if I’m reading more than one book at a time. It is perfectly fine to not finish a book for something you would be more interested in. 💗

Anna Smith (spookyscaryreading) | 9 comments I just started DNFing in the last year or so and it's made my reading so much more enjoyable. and no more reading slumps. there are too many books out there and not enough time to read them all so I only read what I can't put down now. it helps that most are library loans or kindle unlimited so i didn't waste any money. if I paid for it or really love the author I still try forcing myself to finish. I'm a big mood reader though, so sometimes I'll come back to it and sometimes I won't and that's okay too. A book I hate could be someone else's all time favorite. for the most part I know what genres I like and don't stray too much.

Cassidy | 347 comments For me, if it’s a book I’m not really enjoying I’ll usually push through to see if it improves! If it’s one that I’m not enjoying because of writing style or I’m confused then I typically will stop.

Like the other commenters said- life’s too short to finish books you’re not loving. 🫶

lilly ♡ (semi-hiatus, reading slump) | 533 comments yes! off the top of my head, i have to just one book. i probably have to others but don't remember. i was losing interest in the book, but pushed myself to the 50-page mark.

the short story is, if your not enjoying it maybe just try and read something else? hope this helps <3

Kelsey 🦋 | 50 comments I don’t DNF per se because I have lost hope I’ll come back to it but I would happily leave a book sitting as “currently reading” for 40 years.

Although I hate DNFing books, I also don’t wanna overwhelm myself cos if you’re reading something you’re not vibing with you’ll end up in a slump and hate yourself over it

fixitfelix (nikolai’s version) | 176 comments I’ve DNF’d sooooo many books in the past, i hate the idea of me DNFing them but sometimes I just loose interest or completely forget about the book lol

Izzy | 48 comments Yes, I've DNF a book. But I came back to it later. It's not a bad thing because your reading or your pleasure, and if you really feel like you can't finish a book maybe you can come back to it? Hope this help!

Lol I'm the same way, I've never not finished a book intentionally, but there are definitely some books on my shelf that I'm "currently reading" for the last 15 years hahaha

Cindy (genuinecynthia) | 106 comments I never used to, but I do on the regular now. There are so many books on my TBR that it doesn't make sense to invest in a book you aren't getting anything out of.

KyoAi ♡ | 778 comments Yep, two I think- but I'm coming back to those

message 12: by ~Aubrie~ (new)

~Aubrie~ | 64 comments I usually am reading two or more books at a time so sometimes I focus too much on one book and end up accidentally DNF-ing the other (I most likely will go back to it to finish)

lélé (taylor's version) | 19 comments I never did but it put me in the worst reading slump of my life (forced myself to finish Addie LaRue for 8 months) so now I promised myself I would never put myself through that type of pain anymore ahah

Sky Hyman | 11 comments Yessss! If I am having trouble understanding a book I will definitely DNF it. I even have a bookshelf specifically for those books, because why would I want to deny it? Some book just aren't for me!
However, I do have some books that I will put down for a little bit and go back to.
Right now I am reading the Zodiac Academy series, and I blew past the first 4 books, and I am currently on the 5th. I LOVE the books so much, but the 4th let me down a lot and now that I am 30% through the 5th, it is disappointing me even more. Mostly just because of a romance that I have been striving to workout, is failing miserably and it hurts my heart.
I get invested in books though, and their love lives. I don't know if any of you guys do the same thing.
