Hi!
I was nervous going into this one because I wasn’t sure if I would remember the necessary details from Divine Rivals as I read it a few months ago, but luckily, it all came back to me.
I really loved the letter format of book one so I hope we get more of that in this book. I’m curious to see how Iris’ relationship develops with Forest. He’s completely different from everything we knew about him in book one (thanks to Dacre) so I can see her struggling to repair her relationship with him, especially with everything going on with Roman.
I foresee some sort of altercation/power struggle spearheaded by Iris towards Dacre for everything he’s done/doing to Forest and Roman towards the end of the book.
Are you enjoying so far? Let me know your thoughts.
Happy reading! :)

It hasn't been that long for me since I read Divine Rivals. I was so surprised by that book. It was refreshingly new and just such a page turner. The slowburn romance had me on the edge constantly and the ending broke my heart eventhough I wasn't a whole lot surprised. Of course they'd be separated! Pain and heartache is inevitable for our wartorn couple.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH! I LOVE IRIS!!!!
She's just so bold and unafraid, standing up to Mr. Kitt like that.

I feel like we’re getting close to the reunion! I can’t wait for Roman to get his memories back, and I love that Iris has complete faith in him.
I agree that Chancellor Verlice is definitely becoming an additional villain alongside Dacre.
I think the author writes her settings very well. The imagery is so clear, I can always distinctly picture wherever the characters are and whatever’s being described.

On the other hand, my feelings for Dacre are getting more complex. When he talks about Enva, I feel pity for him. In his own messed up way, he did feel like he loved her and she betrayed him. Somebody tell Dacre that love is never returned through threats and captivity and force. The poor misguided God! I really wish to see some Enva-Iris interactions now that Dacre-Roman keep happening!

And all these mentions of the other Gods and their powers is so intriguing. I can't wait for more of them to show up! Some sound really cool. For some reason, it's giving me Throne of Glass by S J Maas vibes. That one had multiple gods and deities too.

And Captain Keegan is now BRIGADIER! Whoa. That escalated real quick! She deserves that promotion though, really.

I completely agree with the shatter me comparison. Just like Juliette and Aaron did, Roman and Iris give me Invisible String by Taylor Swift kinda vibes, if you’ve ever heard the song.
I am hoping to get a little more into the nitty gritty of the war, maybe some front line scenes.
The letter is definitely going to have consequences. I have a feeling that Dacre is going to somehow figure out that the letter was sent and then punish Roman-whether that’s punishing Roman himself or Iris, I don’t know
I’m so here for the Attie and Tobias Bexley romance. I really want to see Marisol and Keegan reunited 🙏

I absolutely love the books where I get attached to secondary characters as well and not just the MCs. ♡
Hiiiii! Sorry I’ve been MIA, I’ve been busy the last couple of days and I’ve just caught up.
Roman has his memories back!! Yayyyyyy!!
I was surprised at how smoothly Roman convinced Dacre that there was no mole, he appeared to be nervous throughout the rest of the book, so this was definitely due to his memories coming back.
Mr.Kitts protectiveness over Roman was unexpected. I know he’s his son, but he’s been cold towards Roman in both this book and the previous.
The graveyard (I think that’s what they’re called if I’m remembering right) came out of nowhere. Their motives are unclear but it’s looking as though Mr. Kitt is associated with them. I do want to know more about Bruce.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we’re getting more of the fantasy aspect in this book compared to book one, but it feels like the romance is suffering for it. I wanted an equal balance of building the romantic connection whilst simultaneously having that fantasy plot going on. One always takes priority over the others.
The Forest and Sarah Prindle storyline literally came out of nowhere lol. Did not expect it and not sure how I feel about it. Speaking of Forest, considering that the main plot of book one was Iris trying to find him, he’s barely been in this book. I was hoping to get to know him more and see how he bonds with the other characters.
We’re nearing the end now and I’m shocked we’ve still not seen Enva in the same way we’ve seen Dacre. Or, like, seen her at all. I imagine she’ll come out of the woodworks when we hit a climax.
How’re you getting on?

I'm sorry we didn't get to interact more Brianna. Of course we didn't mind you hopping in. I'd love to read your views on the book and maybe we could discuss your favorite parts or the bits you didn't much like. That'd be great!
